The Purchasing Assistant will be required to follow Maryland and Virginia policies and procedures in handling all assignments. General responsibilities will include establishing and executing procedures to ensure the facility has proper levels of supplies to operate at efficient levels. Will coordinate the capital purchasing process across all MDVA’s facilities. Will be expected to be timely with respect to work and deadlines. Must be used to working in a fast-paced environment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.

  • Determine purchase order requirements and enter purchase orders for all assigned packaging and Ingredient items.
  • Provide key metrics on supplier performance and in stock compliance by item.
  • Working with operations to ensure accurate on hand inventory and compliance to safety stock levels.
  • Coordinate capital purchases across the company.
  • Work with AP team to insure proper AP payment.
  • Will be required to investigate purchasing price variances.
  • Utilize company’s ERP system (Ross / SAP).
  • Will be required to create and maintain excel spreadsheets where required.
  • Coordinate with other departments for information needed to complete work.
  • Will be a backup to other teammates in their absence.
  • Support teammates in driving improvement in the department and in operations
  • Other duties as assigned.
