Summary:

The Product Manager manages a set of products categories with the business center. This will include product training, product mix analysis, promotional and price negotiations. He or She will perform ongoing product evaluations to ensure specifications adherences and awareness of items in the marketplace. The Product Manager is responsible for the business management of a product and it commercial success.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Product & Pricing Management

· Advises and gives direction toward new item set-up

· Determine and execute, as needed, enhancements and changes to current product pricing structure

· Determine and executes strategies for product packaging needs and changes within the category

· Ensures pricing is accurate and intervenes and corrects when needed

· Protects Total gross Margin while driving more sales

Category Management and Product Development

· Oversee the product line’s life cycle and anticipate any problems and communicate those to the team and organization/customer if needed

Financial Management and Accountability

· Monitor sales/profitability and provide recommendations for price adjustments and product pricing

· Recommend cost reduction and quality enhancements

Supplier Management

· Attend monthly/quarterly supplier business reviews

· Enhance supplier relations through innovation, sales growth and issue resolution

· Manage supplier negotiations and develop product line strategies

· Lead the product assortment strategy for your product category

· Source new products from domestic and international vendors

· Visit vendors and attend product tradeshows

· Negotiate with vendors to obtain most favorable prices, terms, programs, vendor returns, co-op advertising, freight allowances and volume and growth rebates

· Resolve problems with vendor programs

· Monitor inventory

Customer Engagement

· Conducts Sales presentations and resources to support and enable profitable, sustainable sales growth

· Assess current competitor offerings, seeking opportunities for differentiation

· Analyze market data to develop sales strategies, and define product objectives for effecting marketing communications plans

· Creates and deliver solutions to address customer needs through product, price and optimal assortment

· Communicate and sell programs to members

· Provide sales support through field visits and participate in customer visits for key opportunities

General

· Help execute the vision of the organization

· Become an expert in a product category

· Be an expert on the market including who the buyer are, how they buy, and why

· Articulate the product vision

Minimum Requirements

· Project Management experience

· Strong Oral and written communication skills

· Ability to effectively train and teach others

· Must possess and demonstrate effective management, organizational and problem-solving skills

· Must be able to multi-task and set priorities over a variety of products and projects to meet both internal and external customer expectations.

· Driven leader with inspiring enthusiasm for product marketing in a distribution environment

· Highly collaborative in group settings and sets a positive example

· Ability to communicate clearly and concisely

· Strong attention to detail that drives the big picture

· Project Management experience

Education & Experience Requirements

· 4-year business related degree (Preferred)

· Management experience

· Demonstrated familiarity with using Microsoft Office Suite applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
