Job description

Lead a team at a food packing site for Food Safety/Quality Assurance. Provide support to customer and internal teams in regards to food safety/quality related matters. On-site development of a team of internal QA technicians.

Specific Responsibilities of the Position:

  • Lead for Quality Assurance at internal site, directly overseeing technicians
  • Participate in complaint assessments, supporting completion of investigations and corrective/preventive actions
  • Participate in on-site audits, internal and external; supporting any audit tasks.
  • Maintain product hold reports, addressing NCRs and CAPA execution.
  • Review and assess product testing (Coast/Chocs).
  • Own site Environmental Monitoring Program, performing data review and analysis of results, trend tracking, etc.
  • Perform PCQI document and data review for HACCP and other food safety/quality systems Daily, Weekly Back-up associate for QA Techs in necessary times.

  • Knowledge and experience of Food Safety and HACCP systems / Quality Management systems

  • Excellent skills in computers and quality reporting software
  • Demonstrated ability to guide and organize people and programs
  • General knowledge of food manufacturing processes, maintenance, production, Regulatory agencies.
  • Demonstrated ability to guide and organize people and programs
  • Working knowledge of microbiology as it impacts food safety
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently

Education and Experience:

  • Required experience: 5 years of quality experience, 1-3 years of supervisory experience or equivalent
  • Specialized training in: PCQI, Food Safety, Foreign Supplier Verification, HACCP, Leadership, Problem solving and Team Building.

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Standing and sitting for long periods of time.

Work Environment:

  • While performing the duties of this position, the employee is occasionally exposed to loud, cold and high places, variable temperatures, moving parts, and a wet environment.

Salary: $19.00 - $26.00 per hour

  • High school or equivalent (Preferred)

  • Quality control: 5 years (Preferred)
  • Supervisory: 3 years (Preferred)
