What you will do:
The Quality Assurance (QA) Engineer is a member of a scrum team that focuses on shipping quality, valuable software that meets requirements as efficiently and quickly as possible. As such, the QA Engineer is responsible for understanding the customer problem and the intended solution and translating that behavior into test cases. They are responsible for writing, maintaining and updating test cases, leveraging automation whenever possible while ensuring the team incorporates automation into the technology roadmap to improve testing efficiency. During development, the QA Engineer's role is to proactively address potential bugs or negative tests that might not be considered and provide immediate feedback to the developers to ensure the product works as intended while limiting re-work. The QA Engineer also is involved in continuous improvement through self-education of testing and industry best practices as well as through team retrospectives and innovation sprints and contributes to the improvement of ongoing quality control.
In this position you will be working with an established scrum team to test and release features and improvements for a news web site ecosystem based in WordPress. A strong candidate will be versed in the system and comfortable working with multiple sites and systems on a daily basis. They should be comfortable writing bugs and stories using agile methodology and comfortable raising issues within the team.
What you will bring:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, in a related field or 1+ years of relevant Software Engineer experience with 2+ years QA experience

Documenting, executing, and organizing test plans for nearly 100 websites

Applying different testing techniques (e.g. white/black box, happy/sad path, etc.) to find potentially expensive bugs

2+ years of experience working with the following: Browser diagnostic tools, HTML, JavaScript, JSON

Web/browser application test experience with tools like Katalon, Selenium or Cypress

Test Automation experience a plus

Experience working in Agile/Scrum environment a plus

Familiarity with digital media a plus
The annual salary range is from $90,000 - $100,000 dollars. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, time in role, certifications, etc. This role is eligible for a bonus based on performance. In addition to your salary, MediaNews Group offers a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, and a 401K plan (all benefits are based on eligibility).
