Title: QA Technician


Normal Work Location: KYOCERA SGS Tech Hub


Normal Working Hours: 7am - 3:30pm / Monday – Friday / As Needed

Position Summary

Responsible for verifying the quality of all products manufacturing in the KYOCERA SGS Tech Hub, as well as ensuring adherence of the Quality Management System. This role coordinates all documentation, verification, and criteria of the product requirements that are met prior to customer deliveries.


Essential Job Functions

Quality Assurance

  • Responsible for inspection activities to ensure standards and high technical integrity requirements are met
  • Maintain, document, and implement inspection criteria and procedures
  • Minimize delays and inaccuracies occurring during inspection
  • Adjust and maintain grinding equipment when necessary to keep product within defined tolerances
  • Develop and analyze statistical data / product specifications to determine present standards and establish proposed quality of finished product
  • Assist in the following of QA objectives relevant to the inspection and shipment of product
  • Assist in the documentation, and assessment of precision and accuracy of equipment used to inspect and verify conformance to specified requirements
  • Ensure high level of internal and external customer service by participating in the investigation and correcting of customer complaints relating to product non-conformance such as tool specification and calibration requirements
  • Assist in the documentation, maintenance, and implementation of methods, policies, and procedures for the control and disposition of non-conforming product
  • Measure and report quality goal-related information
  • Maintain customer quality records and files for immediate access
  • Quality responsibilities to include materials, manufacturing processes, finishing products, post processing of product, and packaging

Quality Management System (QMS)

  • Maintain quality procedures and records in accordance with ISO standard
  • Advise management in matters pertaining to QMS requirements and continuous improvement
  • Establish, maintain, and control quality records as required by ISO standards and documented procedures or work instructions, including quality audit activities and findings, and corrective and preventative actions
  • Provide assistance to department heads in root cause analysis of non-conformances related to corrective or preventative action issues

Marginal / Less Essential Job Functions

  • Frequently checks supplies and replenishes as required

Educational Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Ability to read, write and comprehend, and communicate in English

Other Qualifications Desired

Training & Experience

  • Six Sigma training, ASQ certified, and/or two years’ experience in quality assurance
  • Some quality management and warehouse training
  • Strong background in quality assurance, preferably in cutting tools
  • Understanding of inspection and ISO processes
  • Ability to use microscopes, comparators, micrometers, calipers, and other manual inspection devices
  • Experience utilizing Walter Helicheck or Zoller Genius preferred
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Analytical and data processing capabilities
  • Time management and organizational skills
  • Advanced computer skills with a functional understanding of documentation
  • Knowledge of Microsoft products and ERP software
  • Knowledge of ISO and SPC systems
  • Understanding of shipping and receiving basics for a manufacturing facility

License Required: Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.


Visual Acuity: Must be able to visually examine tools and accurately read production drawings, rulers, micrometers, calipers, computer screens, optical comparator screens and machine dials. Must be able to visually detect small chips, cracks, voids and similar defects in finished product under varying magnification with or without accommodation.


Hearing Ability: Ability to meet the minimum essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation.


Working Conditions: Well lit, climate controlled manufacturing environment with moderate-loud noise levels. Position subject to occasional light to medium lifting (up to 60lbs), carrying, pushing, pulling, reaching and bending. Constant use of upper extremities with frequent gripping motions and wrist deviations. Occasional reaching above shoulder height, below the waist or lifting as required to retrieve and store packaging materials and finished product. Position may require long periods of sitting at a microscope looking at tools under various magnifications, or standing while cleaning and packaging finished product. Minimal skin exposure to detergents, oils and cutting/grinding fluids and minimal exposure to fumes, dusts, mists.

  • Associate is required to know, understand, and comply with KSPT Quality Management System requirements and applicable work instructions.
  • Associate is required to follow other job-related duties, subject to all Local, State, and federal laws and applicable regulations.
  • The incumbent must successfully perform all requirements of the position training plan.

When overtime is scheduled, it is mandatory.
