SUMMARY OF POSITION:

Provides daily quality-related engineering support to implement, maintain and support quality systems and to resolve customer and production quality issues. Coordinates corrective and preventive action activities, both internally and externally. Develops, controls and monitors quality system to ensure compliance to internal and external requirements. Establishes, maintains and continually improves the production process, product and standards of Techniplas. Provide daily interaction with automotive customers.

JOB DUTIES & ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Ensures quality system is maintained to the ISO 9001 / IATF 16949 Quality Standards.
  • Develops and maintains quality standards and quality procedures to satisfy company / customer requirements.
  • Responsible for the corrective action system and the development of corrective actions using 8-d, 5 why, and other problem-solving tools, as well as providing timely response to internal and external customers.
  • Serves as the main contact with customers regarding quality-related activities and issues.
  • Responsible for the preparation and accuracy of PPAP submissions to customers.
  • Participate in ISO 9001 / IATF 16949 Internal and External audits.
  • Facilitates continual improvement activities.
  • Facilitates the development of control plans and ongoing updates as required.
  • Assists in the development and maintenance of PFMEA’s and process flow diagrams.
  • Supports Supplier Evaluation and Development activities as required.
  • Works in conjunction with project engineers on new project development, assisting in the following areas in accordance with ISO guidelines:
    • Develops new Inspection Instructions and method of measurement for new jobs
    • Performs statistical capability studies and develop statistical monitoring as required
    • Evaluates process robustness
    • Employs GD&T techniques
    • Establishes gauging requirements
    • Attends new project review meetings as needed
    • Performs general Quality Planning according to procedures
  • Assists with preproduction meetings, communicating quality related issues to production employees.
  • Provides recommendations for the disposition of nonconforming material.
  • Provides general support of the entire Quality System according to established standards, customer and regulatory requirements.
  • Report and analyze company quality metrics and support efforts to improve quality performance throughout the organization.

QUALIFICATIONS (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES):

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of quality engineering experience in a manufacturing environment. Plastics industry experience a plus.
  • Previous job experience working directly with customers on quality-related issues.
  • Working knowledge of ISO 9001 / IATF 16949 quality standards is preferred
  • Previous experience participating in the implementation or maintenance of an ISO 9001or IATF 16949 Quality System is preferred.
  • Training and experience in SPC / statistical techniques, AIAG Core tools, problem solving, auditing, blueprint reading, documenting results and knowledge of manufacturing process.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, problem-solving and follow-up skills.
  • Strong attention to details.
  • Ability to work effectively as a team player in a diverse work group.
  • ASQ certification as a CQA or CQE preferred.
  • Computer skills should include basic word processing and spreadsheet skills. Must be willing to pursue further education as job requirements dictate. Occasional travel (<10%) is required.
