Overview:
This position reports directly to the various Quarry Supervisors. All duties are performed in a work-safe manner; plant safety rules are followed and individual works as a team member. Primary responsibilities include assisting in production functions and maintenance.
Schedule includes nights and weekends.
Responsibilities:
Key Responsibilities:
- Demonstrates a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to safety policies in all work environment and areas.
- Prioritizes SAFETY, then QUALITY, followed by PRODUCTION.
- Understand and comply with Environmental Health & Safety policies to assure that environmental, health and safety are the first priority.
- Communicates effectively and timely with staff.
- Ensure all work areas are clean, tidy and organized at all times.
- Operates loading and mining equipment.
- Performs general labor tasks including cleaning, painting, and general upkeep of the facility.
- Performs other duties as time permits or as assigned.
Results/Accountabilities:
- Ability to work independently, self-starter, yet able to participate within a team environment
- Ability to operate equipment safely and efficiently
- Must understand equipment functions and processes of the primary areas
Education and Work Experience:
- High school diploma or GED
- Previous surface mining experience preferred but not required
- Basic math, reading, and writing skills are required (English)
- Welding, cutting, and mechanical skills are desired
- Able to operator haul trucks, loaders, and various mine equipment
Physical Requirements & Conditions:
- Must be able to pass pre-employment physical and drug and alcohol screening
- Must be able to lift 75 lbs
- Work is outdoors in hot and cold conditions, moisture and rain, sun, including extreme temperatures
- Position involves walking, standing, sitting, bending, and climbing stairs
- Exposure to noise and dust, which may require use of hearing and respiratory protection
- Must be willing to work overtime and weekends
Knowledge and Skills:
- Able to perform basic math computations and have basic computer skills
- Must be safety-oriented and exhibit safe work habits
- Punctual and reliable; good attendance required
- Good communication skills – verbal and listening
- Detail-oriented
- Team-player
- Positive, courteous, and helpful approach
- Motivated and eager to learn new skills
Additional Requirements:
- Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to health, safety and environmental policies in all work environments and areas. Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviors
- Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Holcim approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.
