Our Quotations Specialist role is primarily responsible for providing quotations to customers by utilizing sales and technical knowledge for the preparation of quotation packages that support the business.

Essential Job Functions

The job duties listed below are the fundamental job duties of this position. Failure to perform any one of these duties would substantially alter the nature of the position.

  • Receive and evaluate customer requests for product quotations against various forms of project information data. Determine if quotation requests comply with various company approved practices, product standards, and general guidelines.
  • Responsible for quoting material from plans and specifications on construction projects. This may also include building a Bill of Material from a blueprint or working with a customer to suggest products on design-build projects.
  • Effectively recreate project take-off information and adequately apply, or convert, such information into data through the company ERP systems and/or Microsoft office products to generate quote.
  • Actively analyze market information, or input from appropriate Sales Management members to perform market price analysis.
  • Review quote and customer purchase orders to confirm the quoted line item prices, products, and lead-times when requested by Sales Coordinator. Recommend follow up steps for resolution when discrepancies exist.
  • Support, and participate in Continuous Improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain a favorable working relationship with coworkers to promote a cooperative working climate conducive to maximum productivity, efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Perform work at the appropriate pace to maintain quality and productivity requirements.

Knowledge, Experience, Skills

  • Qualified candidates will have a High School diploma and two years Associates Degree in a business, engineering, or manufacturing field of discipline. Prior experience in a quotation service and possession of a four-year Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration is preferred but not required. Other combinations of formal training and experience will be considered.
  • Computer literate; particularly in word processing, spreadsheet, email, shop floor control, production planning, and inventory control applications.
  • Experience in reading and interpreting construction and fabrication line drawings and project specification requirements.
  • General knowledge and understanding principles of production planning, inventory control, and shipping.
  • Effective and appropriate verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and make decisions within a set of guidelines.
  • Ability to work under limited supervision using standardized practices and/or procedures.
  • Apply basic math, fraction, and algebra functions and concepts

Accountabilities:

  • Manage all quoting activity for specified markets, including prioritization and communication.
  • Drive change and improvements in quoting processes and tools utilized.
  • Support team with ancillary activities as required.
  • Liaison between MMC technical team and RSM’s to present quotations meeting profitability requirements.
