The Radiology Tech performs a full scope of radiographic and fluoroscopic procedures that create the images needed for diagnosis at the request of and for interpretation by a licensed practitioner. The Radiology Tech applies the art and skill of diagnostic radiography in direct patient care through effective performance.

Essential Functions:

• Administers medications with an infusion pump or power injector as prescribed by a licensed practitioner Follows established radiation safety guidelines, 'ALARA' (as low as reasonably acceptable) in reference to time, distance and shielding
• Ensures and maintains proper darkroom techniques
• Operates a variety of imaging and fluoroscopic equipment during examinations
• Utilizes proper body mechanics to safely move and/or transfer patients
• Processes identification data onto the exposed imaging plate and prepares the image for reading by the radiologist using image processing film or Picture Archive Communication System (PACS)
• Produces quality images following established departmental and QA (Quality Assurance) protocols to include technique, views, position, proper labeling and patient ID (Identification)
• Properly prepares contrast media under direction of a radiologist

Education:

• High School Diploma or GED
• Satisfactory completion of formal Radiology Technology training in an AMA approved school program

Required Licensing & Certifications:

• Current state licensure as a Radiologic Technologist
• Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) – American Heart Association
