Job Summary: In this role, you will retrieve, transport, receive, re-file, and check various public records. You will operate and maintain a customer service counter at the Chatham County Judicial Courthouse utilizing varying office equipment. You will use the standards and retention schedules to store public records. According to established policies and guidelines, you will use shredders to destroy classified documents for all departments. You will assist in recording incoming and newly produced microfilm and other micrographic media. You will record file transaction data using computer software. You will prepare and present accurate and reliable reports. Outstanding communication and customer service skills are needed as you interact with the public and other department personnel. Your work requires that you maintain a high level of confidentiality. Other duties may be required.

Minimum Qualifications: High School Diploma or GED, and two (2) years' experience in general clerical work, records management, or a related field; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. You must be able to file and retrieve files weighing up to 40 pounds from shelves up to 10 feet high and perform continuous lifting and climbing over sustained periods. You must be able to type 25-35 words per minute. Selected candidates will be required to complete typing and clerical testing during the interview process. You must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.
