General Function of the Recovery Claims Representative Position:

The person employed in this position is responsible for, but not limited to, the pursuit and recovery of subrogation payments and the recovery of salvage proceeds.

Recovery Claims Representative Duties and Responsibilities:

• 
  Handle and record all salvage recoveries on claim files assigned to them.
• Correspond with Department of Motor Vehicles.
• On property and casualty files, initiate correspondence with the responsible party and their insurance company in an attempt to recover the company’s claim payments.
• Refer subrogation files to outside attorneys or collection firms for final handling.
• If additional information is needed to pursue recovery, continue the claim investigation and obtain the necessary documentation. This may include obtaining recorded statements, speaking to vendors, witnesses, insureds or claimants, and using other resources to obtain the needed information.
• Negotiate and approve recovery payments and file Promissory Notes.
• Submit arbitration filings.
• Assist in the handling of claims as necessary.

Recovery Claims Representative Qualifications:

• High school graduate or equivalent is required; four-year college degree preferred.
• Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
• Computer proficiency.
• Strong organizational, time management and decision-making skills.
• Ability to multi-task, meet time deadlines and handle stressful situations.
• IIA, AIC or CPCU courses desirable.
