JOB TITLE: Recovery Coach

STATUS: Full Time

REPORTS TO: Director of RSS

POSITION SUMMARY: The Recovery Coach serves the key function of assessing, coordinating, and providing direct services with clients enrolled in Project Courage’s RSS Program.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following (other duties may be assigned):

Peer Support/Coaching

  • Applies general knowledge of Recovery Support Services to clients and their families
  • Ability to work with client to identify, develop, and assess needs and develop goals and treatment plans
  • Supports and teaches recovery and recovery tools and models personal responsibility
  • Facilitates the with the client a self-review of progress
  • Ability to work collaboratively with clients to assess their hopes, strengths, accomplishments, and challenges in regards to their goals.
  • Ability to develop recovery wellness plan with clients based off assessment
  • Supports clients in the self-management of crucial or crisis situation
  • Ability to assign appropriate assignments based off of clients treatment plan
  • Explores potential tracks for client (i.e. AA/NA or Alternative Track) and explores concepts within both tracks
  • Utilizes knowledge from the Recovery Coach Academy
  • Escorts participants when necessary and ensures participants safety when participating in events, visits, and other interactions.
  • Participates in staff meetings and trainings.
  • Demonstrates level of knowledge and skills within a specific activity to consistently meet or exceed service requirements

Documentation

  • Enters participant data in the Electronic Healthcare Records system upon intake.
  • Manages client EHR and any other appropriate documentation required.
  • Assists the individual in preparation and recording of the peer support recovery plan, encounter notes, and other documents that verify service delivery using person-first language, in a timely manner according to established quality and regulatory standards.
  • Ensures that all participants’ visits are documented in EHR immediately
  • Ensures that all data is correct by verifying information with the participant on every visit.
  • Reports any activities that may violate established laws, regulations, policies or procedures.
  • Raises questions about any actions contrary to law or policy taken by another staff member or employee or yourself, and reports the matter to management or to the Director of RSS

Coordination

  • Ability to coordinate with Wellness Courage Team and other Project Courage staff
  • Ability to coordinate services with outside collateral contacts
  • Ability to assist the client in coordinating needed services
  • Ability to coordinate services with the client on a consistent basis
  • Works with participant to identify, develop, and access supports to increase his/her success in community integration and community inclusion
  • Participates in weekly supervision and in team review of documentation of the comprehensive
  • Creates weekly schedule that meets existing program productivity standards and supervision,
  • Provides technical information to service managers, and executes routine assignments within a service

SPECIAL ATTRIBUTES

  • Possesses characteristics of compassion, active listening skills, evaluative skills, reporting skills and general communication skills. Highly motivated and able to work independently as well as part of a team coordinating client care.
  • Ability to make sound decisions in emergency situations.
  • Possesses working knowledge of recovery including 12 step meetings, mental health and other co-occurring disorders;
  • Experience in working with substance use disorders in a residential and/or intensive outpatient milieu
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to maintain a positive collaborative relationship among staff;
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Experience in crisis intervention and conflict resolution skills;

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

Preferred: Completion of Recovery Coach Academy by CCAR or working toward CAC.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret human service periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as percentages, mean, mode and median ability to draw and interpret bar graphs.

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • While performing the duties of this position, the employee travels by automobile and is exposed to changing weather conditions.
