As a Program Manager, you will be part of a strong team who loves to serve the community! The Recreation Division offers health, recreational, and educational programs, as well as special events and social services for the Napa community. The Recreation Division is looking to hire 3 Program Managers in the areas of Seniors, Youth & Adult Sports and Special Events. You will assist in planning, implementing and oversight of programs as it relates to these specific areas. You will lead day-to-day operations, coordinate other part-time staff or volunteers, and assist with the development of programs. This position is part-time and will average 15-20 hours per week. You should also have the ability to work evenings, weekend, and some holidays. Bilingual in Spanish is preferred!

Note About Temporary and Part-Time Positions: This classification is considered to be at- will and is not covered by the City's Civil Service System. No benefits are afforded to temporary employees, with the exception of participation in the mandatory temporary employee retirement plan.

TYPICAL TASKS
  • Coordinates or assists with a variety of recreation programs, activities, classes and special events.
  • Lead activities with a diverse audience (youth, seniors, etc.)
  • Contact and coordinate with vendors or contractors to provide services during recreation programs or special events.
  • Distributes and collects equipment, maintains and inspects equipment, facilities to insure they are safe for public use.
  • Opens and prepares facilities for use and secures facilities upon completion of use.
  • Assists in the recruitment and selection of part-time staff and volunteers.
  • Participates in the development of staff and volunteer training.
  • Completes weekly schedules, track expenditures and other important records.
  • Prepares various marketing materials and other program information.
  • Conducts program registration and evaluations.
  • Purchases program supplies.
  • Operates office equipment, including computers and audio visual equipment.
  • Coordinates facility use and scheduling for programs / events with recreation staff and
maintenance staff.

QUALIFICATIONS

A typical way of gaining the knowledge and skills required for this classifications is:
Experience/Education/Training: Possess two years of experience leading major recreational programs and activities with education and training to lead recreation staff in the development and implementation of successful recreation programs and special events. Experience working in facilities (i.e. gym, pool, community center, event venue, etc.) is preferred.
Working Conditions: Position requires sitting, standing, walking on level and unleveled surfaces, reaching, twisting, turning, kneeling, bending, stooping, squatting, and crouching in the performance of daily activities. Additionally, the position requires grasping, repetitive hand movement, and fine coordination when writing and typing announcements and advertisements and providing instruction. The nature of the work may also required the incumbent to work outdoors in all weather conditions including inclement weather conditions. Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
License: Possession of a Class C California Driver's License.
Certificates: Possession of Standard First Aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certificates is desired.
Language: Bilingual in Spanish is preferred.
