Michael Best & Friedrich is actively seeking a Recruiting Manager to focus on our national hiring efforts. The main focus of this position will be managing our law school recruiting and summer associate programs. This position will also handle some lateral attorney, professional staff and other hiring efforts along with assisting in the management of the recruiting team. This position will report directly to the Director of Recruiting and will collaborate with the firmwide recruiting team, hiring partner, summer program co-chairs, office managing partners, practice group chairs and other firm leadership.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Develop and implement strategies to brand and market the Firm to law schools and guide campus outreach initiatives with the recruiting team to ensure a consistent approach across the Firm.
  • Facilitate the on-campus interview (OCI) process firmwide including school selections, callback scheduling, hiring statistics and the offer process, including follow-up efforts.
  • Plan and organize all aspects of the summer associate program including updating of summer manual, assignment of summer mentors and advisors, orientation schedules, assisting with office & secretarial assignments, tracking all summer associate work assignments and evaluations, planning, organizing, and attending summer activities (social, training, etc.), managing the summer associate program budget, etc.
  • Focus on efforts to increase the Firm’s recruiting presence on social media and the firm’s website.
  • Regularly review recruitment and hiring processes and recommend modifications that result in better efficiencies.
  • Prepare and organize National Association for Law Placement (NALP) forms and law school forms.
  • Responsible for the overall functioning and maintenance of student hiring data in the Firm’s applicant tracking software program (Lawcruit) in support of the law student recruiting process to include producing appropriate weekly, monthly and ad hoc reports, providing technical support and training to other users of the system.
  • Work closely with the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion committee to drive efforts to actively recruit diverse candidates to the firm.
  • Maintains knowledge of industry best practices impacting compliance, policy, and the recruitment and retention of attorneys by establishing contacts in the legal industry (e.g., professional associations and educational groups, and professional development efforts).
  • Coordinate some aspects of lateral hiring, including working directly with Firm management to fill hiring needs, coordinating the advertising of lateral positions, reviewing resumes, creating prospect lists, conducting candidate outreach, preparing interview schedules, creating offer letters, etc.
  • Assist with training, managing, coaching, and mentoring some of the recruiting team, including writing and conducting performance evaluations in conjunction with review meetings.
  • Assist with managing the recruitment efforts for the department including assisting in drafting job descriptions, interviewing, and providing new employee orientation to all new hires on recruiting departmental procedures.
  • Assist with maintaining and managing time & attendance system for recruiting department.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or as judgment or necessity dictates.

Knowledge Base & Education:

  • Bachelor's degree preferred
  • Minimum of five years of recruitment experience with at least some experience in the legal recruiting field
  • Team management experience preferred
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills, as well as the ability to effectively prioritize multiple projects while managing critical deadlines
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office Suite programs
