REFERENCE ASSISTANT (PART-TIME POOL) Job at Del Mar College

The purpose of this position is to assist the Reference Librarians, provide support and assistance to students with class assignments and reference needs using online databases and/or print resources. This is accomplished by staffing the reference desk as scheduled.
Bachelor’s degree in any academic area.
General knowledge of computers, internet and library research.
Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
Ability to answer telephone, email and chat inquiries as well as scheduling library instruction sessions.
Ability to learn how to use the library catalog and databases.
Ability to use computer software, especially Microsoft Office.
Two (2) years experience in a library environment.
Experience in serving a diverse population, including first-time college students.
Knowledge of an academic library.

Assist students as well as walk-in patrons with classroom assignments and reference questions utilizing various online print resources including the library catalog.
Provide assistance to Reference Librarians with reference tasks as needed.
