ABOUT THE ROLE
Trojan Batter Company is looking for an Occupational Health Nurse to join our dynamic team. Your role as the Occupational Health Nurse will be to manage the occupational health programs including compliance to the Medical Removal Program of the Lead Standard, hearing conservation, and OSHA recordkeeping. Provide on-site medical treatment and general nursing care and wellness to employees; this includes blood lead monitoring to adhere to a Occupational Health and Safety Lead Standard. You will manage all aspects of Trojan Battery Company's Occupational Health and Wellness Programs as well as collaborate with Environmental Health and Safety, Operations, and Human Resources to develop operations, programs, and services by providing content expertise and strategic health initiatives.

The Occupational Health Nurse will be an agent for support to line workers and management in identifying, evaluating, and implementing accommodation and return to work options for workers with work restrictions. THE DAY-TO-DAY
  • Provide clear and effective communication to Production leadership to ensure regulatory compliance and/or company policies are met.
  • Develop interpersonal, professional relationships with department leaders and peers that fosters trust and rapport.
  • Evaluate and treat all injuries and illnesses in an efficient and professional manner within the scope of practice and consistent with clinical nursing guidelines.
  • Operate within workers compensation laws.
  • Collect, document, and coordinate transportation of biological samples.
  • Draft, distribute, and track to completion blood level notifications for all affected employees.
  • Operate under a basic knowledge of legal and ethical issues related to occupational health care practice.
  • Ability to manage time to service multiple and rotating shifts including on-call assignments.
  • Maintain compliance with Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPPA) compliance standards.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of case management, emergency first aid procedures and nursing practice, clinical skills.
  • Knowledge of company programs, policies and procedures in order to make appropriate decisions and referrals.
  • General knowledge of health and medical issues to provide resource information to employees and management.
  • Ability to discern needs and to take appropriate action.
  • Participate in the company’s Drug-Free Workplace Program.
  • Work directly with Workers Compensation Administrator to provide appropriate case management.
  • Maintain OSHA records/reports and worker medical files.
  • Reviews all Company medical records on a timely basis.
  • Follows Quality System standard work.
  • Must be a team player.
  • Willingness to adopt a continuous improvement approach.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
  • Active state nursing license as Registered Nurse (RN).
  • Bachelor’s degree and certification in occupational health nursing or case management preferred.
  • 3-5 years’ experience as an Occupational Health Nurse.
  • CPR/AED; Trainer preferred.
  • Bilingual Spanish preferred.
  • Must be skilled in case management.
  • Knowledge of state and federal regulatory and compliance issues (OSHA, Lead Standard Worker's Comp, Blood Borne Pathogens, etc.).
  • Computer Skills, Word, Excel and Power Point.
  • Experience with electronic reporting/recordkeeping systemssuch as OHM or Pure OHS.
