Job Description:

The United States Marine Corps (USMC) Force-on-Force Training Systems-Next (FoFTS-Next) program will provide the training tools needed to prepare Marines for any contingency, anywhere.

Saab, Inc is looking for an experienced Repair Technician in Oceanside, CA to support the FoFTS-Next program. The Repair Technician conducts repairs of mechanical, electronic, and optical equipment, loads, and configures software on to FoFTS-Next equipment.

The Repair Technician will conduct testing and maintenance of equipment in line with planned usage and maintenance plans.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Is located at the Marine Corps Training Instrumentation System (MCTIS) Equipment Depot in Oceanside, CA and reports to the Saab Logistics Lead.
  • Evaluates repair orders and decides to repair or to classify as Beyond Economical Repair (BER).
  • Administrates repair orders in IFS Prime from request to delivery.
  • Conducts repairs of mechanical, electronic, and optical equipment according to applicable documentation (Parts list, drawing, wiring diagram, Operation instruction, Control instructions) within set turnaround timeframes.
  • Conducts cable repairs.
  • Loads and configures software according to the applicable in-service structure.
  • Tests equipment, pre and post repair, according to applicable control instructions.
  • Ensures that all documentation related to the repairs, upgrades or configuration changes is up to date in SiteMS.
  • Conducts test and maintenance of equipment in line with maintenance plans.
  • Performs upgrades to fielded equipment.
  • Conducts fault reporting using NCR.
  • Performs exercise support when required.

Authority:

  • Stops work upon suspicion of any quality defects.
  • Makes decisions on repair or BER.
  • Determines the validity of warranty claims.

Skills and Experience:

Experience and Skills:

  • Knowledge in trouble shooting of mechanical, Electronic and optical equipment (3+ years of experience).
  • Knowledge of fault finding and testing cables.
  • Knowledge in testing units and loading software.
  • Knowledge of production documentation, configuration documents and control instructions.
  • Be certified in soft soldering to standards laid down in API 126.
  • Educated in ESD protection according to API 49 and API 50.
  • Educated in the use of certain chemical products including 2-part epoxy resin adhesives.
  • Knowledge of design structures and documents, Work Order handling, NCR reporting.
  • Option, Forklift certificate.
  • Standard Driver License.
  • Valid U.S. Passport.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs., stand and walk for long periods of time

Compensation Range: $24.13-$28.37

The salary range provided is a general guideline. When extending an offer, Saab, Inc. considers factors including, but not limited to, the role and responsibilities, market and business considerations, as well as the candidate’s work experience, key skills, and education/training.

Must be a U.S. citizen. Applicants selected may be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
