Overview:
The Research Assistant I assists and collaborates with the Principal Investigator (PI) and other research staff in the Brain Injury Clinical Research Center (BI CRC). Diverse technology and research goals of the BI CRC requires this staff member to be adaptable, flexible, and responsible for performing a variety of duties related to collecting, analyzing and archiving data. This position includes participant recruitment and evaluation and analysis of behavioral, anatomical and/or functional neuroimaging data.

Responsibilities:
  • Assist with research participant recruitment, enrollment, and scheduling.
  • Assist with research participant testing, scoring, coding, and verification of research data.
  • Assist with the creation and maintenance of research databases.
  • Work as part of a research team to carry out mock scans, acquire structural and functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) scans, and analyze MRI data.
  • Perform single subject and group analysis of neuroimaging, behavioral and physiological data.
  • Manage archives of ongoing brain scan study data. Archives unprocessed behavioral data, and generate and compile statistical data.
  • Assist with Transcranial Direct-Current Stimulation (tDCS) administration, electrogoniometer finger sequencing, and Virtual Reality sessions.
  • Assist overseeing the work of students involved in behavior and MRI data coding and analysis.
  • Attend weekly research meetings and assists with grant preparation, manuscript preparation, quality control issues, and protocol development or revision.
Qualifications:
EDUCATION:

  • A Bachelor's degree is required.
  • A Bachelor's degree in a science-related field (e.g., biology, neuroscience, psychology, biomedical engineering, computer science, or physics) is preferred.


EXPERIENCE:

  • Previous experience working in a research laboratory is preferred.
  • Previous experience administering experiments preferred.
