Summary of Job Duties: _
_The Sustainability Consortium is seeking someone to assist the Commodity Mapping team providing its customers CM analysis. The goal of the Commodity Mapping program is to help decrease agriculture’s impact.

To that end, TSC provides a tool called Commodity Mapping (CM). The tool helps US and global businesses become more sustainable by quantifying their potential environmental and social impact from the regions they source their agricultural commodities. This position will use GIS and python programing knowledge to not only support the first‐generation tool but provide research on new datasets (e.g. region‐specific agricultural production, biodiversity loss, water, etc.) for our next generation cloud‐based Commodity mapping tool. This position is part time and remote.Regular, reliable, and non‐disruptive attendance is an essential job function of this job, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Geography, Computer Science, or other degree with strong quantitative and science content including environmental studies/ecology and GIS modeling
  • One year of experience in research, statistics, planning, or a related area
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Software Development
  • Strong GIS experience (with any GIS software)
  • Demonstrated research skills to find geospatial and tabular datasets and evaluate their utility for specific project goals
  • Experience developing written reports and visual presentations.
  • Mid‐level experience with PowerPoint and Excel
  • Effective communication, including presentation experience, and working within teams
  • Drive to produce high quality products

Preferred Qualifications:

  • GIS certification
  • Intermediate experience with ArcGIS Pro (at least 2 years)
  • Familiarity working with Git and Power BI
  • Intermediate or greater level with Python, Pandas, and Jupyter notebooks, along with an understanding of REST API calls and Conda package management.
  • Customer support experience.
  • A passion for sustainability issues.

Salary Information:

$20.00 per hour
