The Texas PRIDE Health Collaborative at Dell Medical School is looking for two research associates with interests in LGBTQ+ health and/or suicide prevention to support our study Reach Out and Connect (ROC) Project aimed at preventing suicide in LGBTQ+ young adults in primary care settings in Texas. The study, funded by the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI) is a multisite study that includes 34 primary care sites across Texas. Under the direction of the Co-PI Dr. Phillip W. Schnarrs and the Clinical Research Manager, Research associates will primarily support data collection for the study in the form of study screenings and an interviewer-administered survey. Data will be collected virtually using Zoom, but research associates will need to be at the medical school when conducting study assessments. PCORI is focused on patient and stakeholder engagement in research and as such we have a robust engagement team and young adult advisory board who provide consultation on study procedures, protocols, and materials. In addition, this role will support training and engagement with our 34 primary care recruitment sites across the state. There may also be opportunities for analyzing qualitative and other study data. Some travel to study sites is required.
Purpose
Support data collection for the study in the form of study screenings and an interviewer-administered survey.
Responsibilities
  • Support data collection by conducting study screenings and assessments.
  • Support internal and external stakeholder engagement activities associated with Reach Out and Connect Project, under the direction of the study’s clinical research manager. Support training of 34 clinic recruitment sites across the state.
  • Under the supervision of the clinical research manager, support qualitative data analysis efforts associated with ROC Project. Support analysis of evaluation data related to patient and stakeholder engagement.
  • Assist with develop of presentations for research and meeting purposes, as well as create research products such as reports and manuscripts for publication.
  • Other tasks as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in sociology, anthropology, psychology, public health, health education, community health, education or related field and 2 years of relevant research experience; or Master’s degree in sociology, anthropology, psychology, public health, health education, community health, education, educational psychology or related field. Preferred Qualifications
More than the required experience. Experience working with and in-depth knowledge of LGBTQ+ health and/or young adults and individuals experiencing suicidal ideation. Experience working with individuals experiencing crises or distress. Experience using virtual communication technology (e.g., Zoom). Experience with survey data collection (e.g., REDCap) and analysis (e.g., Nvivo, SPSS) software. Experience with interviewer administered surveys.
Salary Range
$40,000 + depending on qualifications
