As a residential care facility – also called a rest home – Beaven Kelly Home provides the best of both worlds. Our residents are free to come and go as they please, and they have the structure and reassurance of around-the-clock assistance from a professional nursing and support staff, if they need it.

We also offer respite care for elders, providing temporary relief for their regular caregivers.

JOB SUMMARY:

According to established procedures, performs routine service duties and basic nursing procedures necessary to provide care and ensure the comfort and safety of residents. Delivers care on the nursing units to the residents as directed by nursing administration. Assists residents with activities of daily living such as personal hygiene, feeding and ambulation. Maintains resident and service rooms in a clean and orderly condition.

This is a temporary status position for employees in training through specific classroom and clinical program to achieve status of Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA). This status can only be held for a four month maximum.

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

Demonstrates, promotes and integrates the Trinity Health Senior Communities Mission and core values by:

1. Provides for daily care, comfort and safety of assigned residents, under close supervision of licensed nurses. In doing so, performs such tasks as positioning, complete and partial baths, assistance in dressing, oral hygiene, bed making and other related functions.

2. Performs and records in the residents’ record, basic nursing care procedures according to detailed procedures.

3. Distributes resident meal trays and nourishment, assists residents with feeding as necessary and collects trays at end of meals.

4. Observes residents and reports responses and or changes in condition to appropriate nursing personnel.

5. Responds to assigned residents’ call lights to determine residents’ needs and relays information to appropriate nursing personnel.

6. Maintains resident and service rooms in a clean and orderly condition by changing and proper handling of linen, cleaning counters and care areas and so forth. Cleans resident care equipment such as beds, carts, bedpans, water pitchers and so forth.

7. Requisitions and stores approved supplies and linen according to established procedures and maintain storage areas in an organized condition.

8. Assists in transferring residents, beds and resident care equipment to other rooms or care areas, adhering to necessary safety precautions.

Completes various errands as requested such as retrieving and delivering supplies, specimens, instruments, test results and so forth.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

1. Work requires a high school level of educational development or GED and participation in a classroom and on-the-job training and orientation.

2. Certification required to be achieved within Federal regulations of four months.

3. Work requires the analytical ability to gather and interpret data in situations where the complexity is not overly difficult.

4. Work requires the ability to exchange factual information, schedule appointments, record required data in residents’ charts, explain facility policies, and/or relay resident needs and requests to appropriate facility employees. Requires courtesy and tact in these interactions when dealing with residents and families, visitors and/or other governmental or facility employees.

5. Work requires providing direct resident care to young adults, adult and geriatric residents.

6. Work requires ability to reach and grasp objects and use hands to finger, handle and feel objects.

7. Work requires ability to stoop, kneel, crouch and/or crawl.

8. Work requires ability to communicate.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

1. Work requires the ability to remain physically active for the duration of the assigned shift.

2. Requires working with equipment or performing procedures where carelessness would probably result in minor cuts, bruises or muscle pulls.

3. Requires exposure to blood and various body fluids and occasionally toxic or caustic chemicals that require caution and use of established safety guidelines and equipment.

4. Work requires ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS:

1. Reports to Charge Nurse and/or Nursing Supervisor.

2. Has no responsibility for leading or supervising the work of other employees.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $15.30 - $19.44 per hour
