We are looking for Seasonal Associates for the 2023 season including Landscape & Install Crew, Nursery & Greenhouse Associates, Farm and Events Crew, Retail Customer Service Cashier & Loader, and Café Crew.

Most of our seasonal positions will work from mid-March until the end of July, weather dependent. Hours will average 16-24 hours per week with more hours available during events and peak selling periods. One weekend shift is required weekly.

Colonial Gardens will be holding a Hiring Event on February 20th and 21st from 10 am to 2 pm and from 6 pm to 8 pm on both days. Come join us at 27610 E. Wyatt Rd., Blue Springs, MO on these dates to receive an immediate onsite interview!

Colonial Gardens, located in Blue Springs, MO, was added to our brand family in 2016. Founded in 1969, renovations began in 2017 to create an agritourism destination. It is the garden center, reimagined! We offer a greenhouse, nursery, café and coffee shop, event space, and farmer’s market. It’s where plants, food and farms connect. Educational classes promoting local agriculture and sustainability as well as private events are also offered.

Key Responsibilities:

• Customer Service oriented – be courteous, friendly, and always ready to help.
• Organized – Quick thinking to prioritize the customer’s needs efficiently and effectively.
• Execution – Follows direction in an accurate and timely manner.
• Customer Resource – Demonstrate knowledge of the landscape/nursery industry and customer needs

Essential Job Duties:

• Process “Now” Orders – Manages day to day transactions of customers.
• Answer phone and two-way radio questions about availability and pricing.
• Complete customers’ transactions using the point of sale software
• Deliver a checkout experience that is quick, professional, and friendly
• Ensuring merchandise is accurately scanned and meets the needs of the customer, utilizing various tools such as; scan all merchandise, scales and basket to basket, etc

Other Duties and Responsibilities:

• Promote and manage a safe work environment while following direction from the safety committee.
• Provide assistance to other departments when asked or needed in tasks such as, housekeeping, stocking, organization, etc

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Must have the ability to work in a fast paced, team environment
• Must have good attention to detail
• Must have excellent customer service & communication skills
• Ability to implement change as needed with a ‘can do’ attitude
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
• Ability to work well with other employees in a team environment

Minimum Qualifications:

• Must be at least 16 years of age
• Previous sales or customer service experience a plus
