Retail Donation Coordinator: Greater New Haven & Lower Naugatuck Valley Job at Connecticut Foodshare
The Retail Donation Coordinator is responsible for development and maintenance of the Food Rescue program which utilizes volunteers and partner programs to collect food donations from local food donors across the state, distributing the food directly to partner programs. The Retail Donation Coordinator manages relationships with Food Rescue volunteers, partner programs, and food donors, providing excellent customer service and collaborating with other food bank departments. This position will be responsible for developing strong relationships in Greater New Haven & Lower Naugatuck Valley.There will be an emphasis on increasing healthy donations and strengthening relationships. The Reatil Donation Coordinator will be expected to look for new opportunities and ways to improve/expand the program. This position will report to the Director of Retail Donations & Partnerships.
Responsibilities:
Support Local Food Donors:
· Develop and maintain relationships with local food donors from management to department leads
· Monitor levels and frequency of service to donor locations and adjust as necessary
· Monitor quality/quantity of food donations, encouraging nutritious categories and meet assigned goals
· Maintain store contact list and tool kit containing donation guidelines specific to each store/banner
· Schedule and supervise launch of new donors and encourage registration and use of MealConnect
· Attend donor recognition events and deliver quarterly/annual recognition items
Coordinate Volunteer Involvement:
· Train and support Food Rescue volunteers, determining assignments based on needs of food donors
· Use MealConnect to post offers to volunteers as needed
· Provide reporting of monthly volunteer hours and volunteer compliance to Volunteer Services
· Maintain supplies for food rescue kits and order as needed
Coordinate Partner Program Involvement:
· Work with the Partner Program Team to recruit programs based on capacity and distribution schedules
· Make changes to assignments as needed and monitor weekly receipting by partner programs
· Provide training and on-going coordination to programs involved in direct food delivery model
· Meet monthly goals for receipts reported by Partner Programs
· Provide and maintain adherence to Food Rescue Program Agreement and work to resolve grievances
· Communicate additions/changes of partner programs to Partner Program Team
· Attend Partner Program events as requested
Other Duties:
· Work with Giving Team to plan for register donation programs at retail locations
· Process receipts in database for all weekly pre-scheduled and MealConnect pick-up
· Stay informed on updates to MealConnect platform and proactively work with their team to improve features
Support food bank mission, vision and values and in all duties be responsible for cost-efficient operations and make the best use of all resources.
Take on additional responsibilities as assigned by Management
Education and Experience:
· Associates degree preferred
· Applicable experiences in the retail or food industry, sales/customer service, volunteer engagement, and/or nonprofit or hunger-relief organizations
· Valid Driver’s License and reliable transportation
Key Skills:
· Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly with Outlook and Excel
· Ability to work independently, collaboratively and manage multiple duties
· Motivated and goal driven with excellent organizational skills
· Ability to remain calm under pressure with a pleasant and professional attitude
· Exceptional interpersonal skills with ability to interact well with diverse individuals/groups in diverse environments
· Must be comfortable with highway and city driving
· Will spend a significant amount of time on the road
