Oregon Surgical Specialists, PC is seeking an experienced part-time RN to join our busy office-based Angiography team. WORK TWO DAYS PER WEEK! (Wednesday/Thursday shift) NO WEEKENDS. NO CALL!

Summary: Provide direct patient care to include assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of patients. Collaborates with other professional disciplines to ensure safe, high-quality and effective patient care delivery and achievement of desired patient outcomes.

Essential Functions: Maintains and demonstrates an in-depth knowledge of nursing principles, practices, standards and techniques, and applies this knowledge in accordance with OSS operating policies and procedures and within the laws and regulations governing nursing practice in the State of Oregon. Under the direction of the physician, the nurse will perform the following duties:

  • Performs comprehensive pre and post procedural assessments and patient support. Identifies deviations from the norm and intervenes accordingly.
  • Observes, records and reports patient’s condition and response to medications and/or treatments to physician.
  • Exercises scientific-based clinical judgment and decision-making related to patient assessment, planning and care.
  • Delegates tasks, when appropriate, to medical assistants or radiology technicians in compliance with their job descriptions and scope of practice.
  • Coordinates and supports the plan of care through communication with other members of the health care team.
  • Communicates patient’s status to other members of the health care team to coordinate plan of care throughout the continuum of care.
  • Provides timely and effective phone angiography triage services.
  • Educates patient and family about angiography procedures, recovery, and discharge instructions.
  • Obtains consents and implements physician's orders.
  • Provides pre-procedural patient confirmation calls
  • Provides post-procedural patient care calls.
  • Performs point-of-care testing with documentation in EHR, as needed.
  • Receives and recovers post-angiography patients, with or without sedation.
  • Administers prescribed medications and treatments safely and correctly - Calculates dosages and administers medications accurately.
  • Performs venipuncture to establish IV access for fluids and medications.
  • Performs phlebotomy, as needed.
  • Provides therapeutic interventions, as indicated, to increase patient’s comfort level and/or to enhance medical treatments.
  • Documents all patient care with proficiency and in compliance with OSS electronic health systems.
  • Maintains up-to-date and accurate documentation of nursing care to ensure the integration of information for use by the healthcare team.
  • Utilizes and maintains the EHR system in accordance with OSS policies and procedures.
  • Maintains and reviews patient records and other pertinent information.
  • Accurately prepares charts for upcoming procedures.
  • Maintains interventional and exam rooms with necessary supplies and materials.
  • Monitors and maintains clinical supply and medication inventory.
  • Prepares equipment and assists physician during patient treatment/examination.
  • Ensures cleanliness.
  • Participates in staff meetings and continuing education events
  • Performs general clerical duties.
  • Participates in quality review and performance improvement projects.
  • Maintains annual and PRN competency testing.

Education and/or Experience:

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  • At least one year experience as an RN within a PACU, critical care unit, cardiovascular recovery unit or angiography/catheterization laboratory.

Necessary Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Provides prompt, accurate service to internal and external customers.
  • Maintains working knowledge of clinic’s exposure control plans for blood borne and airborne pathogens.
  • Promotes effective working relations and works effectively as part of a team to facilitate ability to meet goals and objectives.
  • Demonstrates the skills and judgment necessary to provide safe nursing interventions and direct care to patients.
  • Has basic knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT/HCPS coding procedures.
  • Demonstrates strong typing skills and working knowledge of computer systems, particularly with a windows-based environment.
  • Communicates effectively with patients, physicians and co-workers.
  • Demonstrates basic knowledge of physician office documentation standards.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

  • Current Oregon RN license.
  • BLS and ACLS required.
  • Sedation certification preferred.
