Responsibilities Will Include:
- Responsible and accountable to assure accurate medication administration and delivery. Medication delivery includes, but is not limited to:
- Understanding and adhering to professional standards of medication delivery.
- Understanding and adhering to MMH Nursing Care Center’s established medication policies and procedures.
- Being responsible and accountable for identifying, reporting, and responding to observations related to expected outcomes and adverse
- Responsible and accountable for all resident’s treatment and care planning:
- Understands and adheres to professional standards related to treatment of pressure ulcers (i.e., Process Guidelines for Pressure Ulcers).
- Responsible for treatment performance.
- Understands and adheres to MMH’s Policies and Procedures related all treatments performed.
- Responsible for initiating, reviewing, and revising care plans related to treatments and other orders.
- Responsible for monitoring resident safety:
- Performs daily safety checks of unit in collaboration with the CNAs and staff nurses.
- Responsible for answering call lights and fall sensors.
- Responsible and accountable for monitoring the units and promoting resident safety that assures compliance with individualized resident safety measures per the plan of care.
- Responsible for staff supervision:
- Responsible for units staff satisfaction and morale. Continually promotes optimal teamwork.
- Performs cross checks during the night shift for completion of treatment and medication administration with staff nurses.
- Performs cross checks during the night shift for completion of CNA and nursing documentation in the electronic medical record.
- Responsible for completing incident/accident reports when necessary, assuring that unit nurses complete all sections and perform appropriate documentation.
- Responsible for ensuring CNAs tasks (showers, weights, vitals, etc.) are completed as appropriate.
- Reviews CNA documentation to ensure duties have been completed.
Qualifications:
- A graduate of a nursing education program.
- A valid unrestricted State of Michigan RN license. This unrestricted license must be maintained throughout employment.
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
- Previous RN Charge Nurse and or supervision/management experience preferred.
- A current CPR certificate or obtains within six (6) months of hire or transfer. This certification must be maintained throughout employment.
- A minimum of three (3) years of experience as a registered nurse.
- A minimum of two (2) years of experience as a registered nurse within a long-term care program specializing in the care of the older adult preferred.
