The Nurse Supervisor provides direct nursing care and oversight in a correctional setting and follows and maintains security requirements.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

● Responsible for overseeing all aspects of inmates and detainees’ care.

● Ensure that physician’s medication orders and treatments are implemented appropriately.

● Apply knowledge of drugs and therapeutics for medications in a jail setting. Maintain security of medications; be continually cognizant of the potential hazard of drug hoarding and trafficking among inmates.

● Monitor procedures for patient transfers to medical facilities or outside health providers.

● Prepare regularly scheduled reports and special reports as necessary.

● Oversee the proper storage, accountability and wasting of all sharps.

● Participate in in-service education, as required and provide documentation.

● Cover vacant shifts when necessary.

● Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

● Notifies the Regional Administrator (RA) immediately on any emergent send-outs or significant events.

● 24-hour on call coverage required.

● Monitor and manage intake/ sick call/ chronic disease/ healthcare needs of inmates.

● Monitor and manage the nursing schedule.

● Attend meetings with the health service administrator and jail administration as requested.

● It is an essential part of the job that CPS can ask the employee to work beyond his/her regularly scheduled hours.

● Checking/ responding to nursing emails.

● HSU cleaning inspection as assigned.

● Assist with training as assigned.

● Follow and maintain all the facility's rules and regulations. Physical Requirements

● Regularly required to stand; sit; use hands to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop; kneel, crouch or crawl; talk and hear.

● Regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

Type of position:

Full-time Minimum Requirements Education: Graduate from an accredited registered nursing program.

Baccalaureate degree preferred but not required.

● Maine Registered Nurse license required

● Current CPR certification

● Demonstrate the knowledge and ability to apply principles of nursing care.

● Recognition of signs and symptoms of mental illness, intellectual disabilities, emotional disturbance or chemical dependency.

● Demonstrate the ability to draw blood and administer PPD tests. Location
