Summary:

The Safety Supervisor will collaborate with Trident’s Safety department in the design, implementation, communication, and coordination of facility safety, security, and health processes and programs.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Responds to and performs basic first aid to injured personnel while coordinating with emergency responders as needed.
  • Investigates all injuries and incidents that occur at the facility.
  • Evaluates hazardous conditions and employee practices and develops and implements effective and sustainable hazard control practices and programs.
  • Guides and assists safety department personnel with critical safety and health problem evaluation and action planning.
  • Organizes, attends, and delivers presentations at weekly and monthly Safety meetings.
  • Develops and maintains procedures for testing safety systems and protocols and ensures testing is documented according to protocol.
  • Conducts or directs incident investigations and ensures documentation is prepared according to protocol.
  • Assists with inspection or other regulatory activities as needed and or as requested.
  • Oversees training and certification programs and ensures compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Assists field and staff management to understand OSHA regulations and standards, including guidance on handling OSHA compliance, inspections, and citations.
  • Keeps apprised of developments in federal, state, and local safety laws.
  • Partners with facility management in communicating hazard control information and evaluates effectiveness of the control.
  • Collaboratively resolves individual and organizational conflict by using effective negotiation and mediation strategies
  • Reviews company accident statistics and makes local recommendations for correction of problematic areas.
  • Establishes target areas and long-range accident prevention and cost-control objectives.
  • Ensures worksite injuries are accurately documented and offsite medical clinics attend to employee injury in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Maintains First Aid facilities including First Aid equipment.
  • Collaboratively presents Toolbox Talk content to site staff within the prescribed frequency.
  • Collaborates with Trident’s Health and Wellness department; promote healthy living.


Additional Responsibilities:

  • Acquires knowledge of Trident’s Environmental and Safety Policies by completing required training programs and performing designated work activities in accordance with training and procedures/work instructions
  • Notifies designated personnel of any environmental or safety incidents or risks not previously documented, in accordance with Environmental Awareness and/or safety trainings
  • Position may be responsible to work Saturdays and Sundays as needed.

Minimum Requirements


Education:

  • AA degree or equivalent; or a combination of education and experience.
  • Basic First Aid and CPR Certified
  • OSHA 10 & 30 Certified, or ability to obtain certifications within one year of hire.
  • OSHA Certified Safety Coordinator, or ability to obtain certification within one year of hire.
  • OSHA 500 (Trainer Course), 511 (Standards for General Industry), and/or Certified Safety Professional, preferred.


Experience:

  • Minimum of two (2) years safety and/or health-related administrative experience preferred.


Qualifications:

  • Hepatitis B immunization preferred.


Preferred Training and Skills:

  • Proficiency with MS Office products.
  • Ability to read, interpret and write reports and correspondence in English.
  • Able to take on special tasks or projects with limited direction and oversight required.
  • Strong multitasking and organization skills required.
  • Able to take ownership for assigned tasks, as defined by supervisor.


Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to outside weather conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; extreme cold; risk of electrical shock and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.


Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to climb or balance. The employee is occasionally required to sit; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include distance vision, peripheral vision and depth perception.


Mental Activities:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to understand English, and utilize teamwork skills. The employee is frequently required to speak English, and use decision making skills. The employee is occasionally required to use interpersonal, customer service, mentoring, problem analysis, training and supervision skills. The employee will be occasionally required to read and write English, perform basic math, use exercise independent judgment, and use discretion.


This is an Hourly – Non-Exempt position with an hourly rate of: $35.00 per hour
