Safety Assurance Support

SP Murphy, Inc. is looking for proven Safety Assurance Engineers to join our growing team. In this role, you will be working in the transportation industry with an opportunity to apply your experience on a major rail project. Current local, national projects include light rail, metro, passenger rail, freight rail, fast rail and high-speed rail. Based in Chicago you will become a key member of our transportation team. The role covers end to end management and implementation of safety assurance in support of our transportation and rail projects.

Responsibilities include:
+ Work with the Safety Assurance Manager to deliver safety assurance planning throughout project lifecycles

+ Assist in the development and management of safety assurance plans and hazard logs

+ Assist in the defining and analysis of safety requirements

+ Assist in the development of safety cases and safety risk assessment reports

+ Provide support in the facilitation of the process to lead design teams and clients through the hazard identification and analysis process

+ Support and enhance wider rail team’s appreciation, knowledge and understanding of safety assurance

+ Qualifications

+ Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or a related field, or comparable work experience.

+ Working knowledge and thorough understanding of safety assurance principles and process

+ Rail or Transit sector knowledge

+ Technical experience and knowledge of the full systems engineering lifecycle
