Job Summary/Description:

-Daily primary key focus on cold-calling, prospecting and account maintenance; capturing your own appointments.

-Being professionally persistent in order to acquire PO’s from accounts; knowing how to close an account and ask for the purchase order.

-A highly focused B2B development sales cycle.

-Build business partnerships with customers to meet their expectations and requirements in order to drive sales

-Obtain customer information by engaging in on-going conversations with key decision makers in order to gather critical details/samples for quoting purposes to qualify & quantify opportunity.

-Capitalize on sales opportunities and focus on account retention. Have an account ownership mentality.

-Identify opportunities to solicit new business and increase territory revenue through expanding the product assortment at current accounts and obtaining new accounts.

-Have effective and creative lead generation campaign skills.

-At times you will need to proactively solve customer issues and concerns.

-Build a solid rapport with accounts in order to negotiate/navigate a competitive quote scenario.

Duties & Responsibilities:

-Travel to our Pawtucket, RI or West Springfield, MA office at least once per week, if not more in most cases or when required to handle and review account deliverables (with sales managers and customer service liaisons); transport and deliver samples to HQ.

-Will be required to input data into our computer platform in order to request samples, artwork and quotes (will work in parallel with an assigned customer service person)

-Will work with an internal sales manager (for quote reviews) and external sales manager (for sales related items)

-Will be required to complete a daily call activity report and submit on a weekly basis; reviewed with sales manager.

-Meet monthly sales and quota expectations/forecasts; with an opportunity to achieve monthly bonuses.

-Success will be measured on a multitude of metrics ranging from quotes to phone calls to closing deals.

- Establish and maintain effective & respectful relationships with customers by providing outstanding customer service.

-Communicate effectively in a variety of settings and styles. Attentiveness to details and active listening skills required.

-Perform other duties as required or assigned at times which are reasonable within the scope of the job.

Here’s a good scenario here-

An important component/tool of being successful in this position will be driving (your mobile office); it’s more than just logging miles on your automobile for cold calling and customer meetings; we’re in the business of making samples to make sales- if a new box or display is to be designed from scratch for a customer, a sample is made by our engineers- and most likely designed around the product which goes into it. That product is brought in from the customer to our factory by the sales rep. (let’s say four cans of paint go in a new box to be designed) and then the sample we make in our engineering dept is then picked up at our factory and delivered by the sales rep to the customer for review and sign-off. or if a customer has an existing box or boxes that a competitor makes, the sales rep will pick up that sample of the existing box and bring it into our engineering dept so it can be spec’d and a new identical sample for the customer is made and will have to be reviewed and signed off by the customer prior to us filling the order. (Of course, there’s a quote process intertwined within these steps as well.) Again, in this scenario the sales rep is driving both the existing box to our factory to be spec’d and delivering the new sample we produce back to the customer.

Wash, rinse, repeat.... the miles will add up…..No UPS or FEDEX … it’s all high touch in person every day.
