Sanitation Driver Job at City of Dodge City
JOB SUMMARY
The objective of the Driver is to be responsible for all labor job activities but not limited to, recycling, refuse collections, building and yard maintenance, bailer operation; other activities related to operating and maintaining refuse collection vehicles, reading, and memorizing route maps, customer service, container maintenance, and other duties as assigned.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The duties described below are indicative of what the Driver may be asked to perform; other duties may be assigned:
Job Knowledge & Effectiveness
Expectation to:
- Loads and hauls refuse.
- Maintain and repair karts and/or dumpsters.
- Prepare records of items picked up and items to be picked up.
- Perform minor repairs to trucks and equipment used.
- Clean and maintain equipment and storage area.
- Cross-trains in other areas of Public Works Department as appropriate. Assists in other departments when needed.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
- Minimum of one (1) year of basic truck maintenance experience.
- Requires employment in the position of Maintenance Worker I – Solid Waste for a minimum of six (6) months.
- One year experience in operation and maintenance of refuse collection vehicles
- Knowledge of at least one sanitation route i.e., grass, trash, or limbs
- Familiarity with city streets.
- Requires knowledge of 1–5-day refuse collector route.
- A valid CDL, Class B Kansas motor vehicle operator’s license.
- Good driving record.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $20.00 per hour
