Position Details
Job Goal: To improve social, emotional and behavioral outcomes for students with disabilities so that they have the schools necessary to be productive members of society.
Qualifications:
1. Michigan Approval as a School Social Worker;
- Master Degree minimum, additional training preferred;
- Ability to positively impact and relate to students who are moderately and/or severely impacted by their disability;
- Ability to collaborate with ISD and LEA staff, community agencies, parents and students;
- Prior successful social work experience;
- Ability to utilize START principles, practices, guidelines and resources to improve educational programming and outcomes for students with disabilities;
- Ability to work as part of a team to identify lagging skulls, teach replacement behaviors and provide interventions which support students in the areas of social skills, self-regulation, independence, communication, engagement and behavior regulation; and
- Passion for students with disabilities and ensuring he or she is in their least restrictive environment.
