SCIENCE COMMUNICATION ASSISTANT, Biological Engineering, to join the Superfund Research Program (MIT SRP), a NIH National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences program directed by Professor Bevin Engelward. The program’s overarching goal is to protect human health from hazardous chemicals. In particular, there is a concern for residents of Wilmington, MA, and for the Passamaquoddy Tribe in Maine, due to their risk of exposure to chemicals known to cause cancer in animal models. Additional stakeholders include local, state, tribal, and national organizations focused on aspects of environmental health. The MIT SRP is home to a dozen research leaders and over a dozen trainees across the MIT campus. Communicating science to members of the program, other researchers, the NIH, and the public is of core importance to the MIT SRP. Will compose text for a wide variety of contexts/audiences, play a leadership role in composing text for the annual progress reports, manage social media, and keep the website up-to-date (with content only).

Job Requirements
REQUIRED: high school diploma or its equivalent; five years of communications and/or administrative experience; excellent organizational, planning, and written and verbal communication skills; self-motivation; attention to detail; ability to follow complex instructions, multitask, carefully document work in written records; Ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Ability to plan and troubleshoot projects/tasks and work in a fast-paced, dynamic research environment. Proficiency in Word and PowerPoint. PREFERRED: B.S. in life sciences and science writing experience. Job #22297-6
