Key responsibilities for this role include:

Utilize and apply knowledge of basic scientific principles, theories and concepts to develop solutions to problems of moderate complexity.

Present ideas for modifying existing procedures and suggest alternative methods to improve results. Maintain a level of scientific knowledge in assigned area; perform scientific literature searches and evaluations as required and understand/comply with accepted laboratory and safety procedures.

Plan and perform research activities relating to formulation development work - including informal stability studies and physical/organoleptic evaluation of prototypes. Conduct procedures in compliance with established protocols and regulatory guidelines. Maintain a clean and safe work environment.

Prepare technical reports and SOPs covering formulation development and handover activities - including manufacturing process instructions. Record, evaluate, analyze and interpret experimental data. Prepare and organize data for presentation at internal meetings.

Work closely with internal and external departments to ensure the efficient progress of projects. Contribute to concept and design of research proposals.

Perform literature searches. Be familiar with MS Office and Lotus Notes. Possess some knowledge of specialized scientific software.

Perform job duties that are affected by the environmental conditions selected above include working with laboratory equipment, chemicals, some materials in hood and spending some time in compounding area at plant to work with PTS Group.

Act as a mentor / advisor to more junior members of the department.

Within area of responsibility, understand and comply with all safety, environmental and quality practices and procedures as outlined in organizational/departmental guidelines and SOPs as well as applicable federal, state and local regulations.

Perform other duties as assigned.
The minimum qualifications for this role are:
-
Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biology or related field from a four-year college or university is required. Master’s degree is preferred.

Minimum 0 – 3 years of related experience with Master’s degree <OR> 4 - 6 years with Bachelor’s degree. Experience in formulation of pharmaceutical biological products is required. Knowledge in pharmaceutical semi-solids dosage forms and/or new drug delivery systems.
