Job Description:
We are looking to hire a temporary seasonal Cook at Iowa State University’s Rod & Connie French Conservation Education Camp (formerly the Hole in the Wall Ranch), located at 5525 W. Fork Fish Creek Road, Alberton, MT 59820 for the dates of: May 26 – July 11, 2023 (6.5 weeks) If you are only available for part of this session, please note this in your application.
The dates of May 26 – June 23 are highest priority. Pay is $15/hour for up to 40 hours per week, PLUS free room and board. The cook will prepare meals for students and faculty taking field courses at Iowa State University’s Conservation Education Camp near Alberton, MT, ~1 hour west of Missoula. The cook will plan and prepare breakfast and dinner for ~30 people, 5-6 days a week. Groups will prepare their own packed lunches each day, so the cook will have the middle of the day “off” to rest or explore the beautiful surrounding Lolo National Forest. Experience cooking for larger groups of people with various dietary restrictions preferred. Work Hours to be arranged between 6 am & 7 pm (5-6 hours per day). 1-2 days off per week will be arranged to fit the candidate’s schedule (usually Thur-Fri).
This job is ideal for someone who loves the outdoors and would enjoy living and working at our remote, but beautiful camp for the summer. We provide free on-site housing for the cook to stay at the Camp during the position. Alternatively, if a local candidate would like to commute to the camp each day, we can work with your schedule to plan for this. You must provide your own transportation to Montana. The ideal candidate will have their own vehicle, but we can arrange rides to/from Missoula at the beginning and end of the job if needed.
