Become a member of our horseback safari team as a horseback safari tour guide. Begin your day with a “holler to the horses” and listen to the rumble of hoofs as they come in for their morning grooming. After some horse husbandry, saddle up and take guests on a scenic horseback tour of The Wilds prairies. Wrap up your day by cleaning up the barn and hitting the trail till next time.

• Develop a thorough understanding of provided information and present engaging interpretation of Wilds conservation work while on horseback/trail.
• Utilize artifacts and other tools for conveying messages to visitors.
• Act as a representative of the Wilds including appropriate dress, language and attitude.
• Greet and inform guests of pertinent information including departure times and proper safe riding techniques.
• Act as a liaison for groups once they arrive at the Wilds.
• Perform daily husbandry of the horses and barn areas.
• Assist in daily housekeeping/light grounds keeping tasks, heavy lifting required.
• Strive to further the mission of the organization and support the Wilds, Zoo, Zoombezi Bay and Safari Golf Club.
• Posted schedule may be subject to change based on operational needs such as weather condition, guest attendance and department needs.

• 18 years of age or older.
• 2-3 years of trail riding experience considered a plus!
• Experience with presentations, public speaking, programming or other experience preferred.
• Positive, professional attitude.
• Ability to make responsible decisions.
• Ability to adapt easily to changing circumstances.
• Public service experience.
• Ability to operate a two-way radio.
• CPR/First Aid training preferred.
• Ability to work a flexible work schedule, including holidays, weekends and evenings.
• Ability to provide excellent guest service and uphold the Make it G.R.E.A.T. standards.
• Develop and maintain cooperative relationships with all Wilds/Zoo team members.
• Communicate well both verbally and in writing required.
• Plan and organize work in an efficient and cost-effective manner.
• Possession of a valid Ohio driver’s license and a good driving record is a must.
• Successfully complete a pre-employment drug screening and criminal background check.
