This position reports to the Parks and Recreation Supervisor or designee at the Forestry Department located in Solon Springs, WI. Temporary/Seasonal 40 hours per week from early Spring to mid-to-late Fall. This position is responsible for the daily tasks of maintaining Douglas County parks and recreational areas. This includes, but is not limited to: collecting and handling park fees, raking, mowing, emptying trash containers, cleaning park facilities, painting, etc. Hourly wage for 1st season is $15.00 per hour (Park Workers that return for a second season will receive an additional $1.00 to their base wage and another $1.00 if they return for a third year.) Essential Duties

Daily duties include picking up trash, emptying trash cans, sweeping out park facilities, cleaning and stocking restrooms/showers, raking and mowing park grounds, string trimming, cleaning grills, collection/handling of park fees, and the delivery of firewood; keeps the beach and recreational areas free of debris; Performs general maintenance of park facilities - includes light carpentry repair, operation of light equipment, i.e. lawn mowers, grounds keeping and equipment maintenance; Works as a team member and assists co-workers in other duties and projects as needed. Monitoring of campground reservation software. The Seasonal Worker will receive direction by the Parks and Recreation Supervisor, Forestry and Parks Technician and/or Lead Park Workers; Performs other duties as assigned or directed by the Parks and Recreation Supervisor, Forestry and Parks Technician and/or Lead Park Workers; May be required to collect park fees. Weekend and evening work required.

Minimum Qualifications

Must have a High School diploma or GED (must be at least 18 years of age), possess a valid Driver's License, be able to work efficiently, work with a wide variety of people, be physically capable of working outdoors in all types of weather conditions, and capable of lifting 30 lbs. Must be a team player, attention to detail have initiative, good work commitment and strong personal relation skills in dealing with people.

Test requirements: Structured interview and background investigation.

Physical Requirements


Ability to physically get out and make rounds on foot, bicycle, or by vehicle throughout the campground and park area. Ability to work outside and adapt to changing work conditions.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to walk, bend, stand, balance, sit; reach, grasp, talk, hear, and see; and occasionally stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift up to 75 pounds. Specific physical abilities required by this job include using both hands for frequent fingering and grasping; vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
