Secretary / Junior Security Specialist

Venesco LLC has an immediate opening for a Secretary / Junior Security Specialist at the Navy Yard in Washington, DC. A Top Secret clearance is required. This position is currently 100% remote but candidates must be available as needed onsite.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate various requests and administrative support requirements for the PSAB, ensuring prompt and efficient processing of cases. Accurately maintain and check databases and process all files needed by the PSAB prior to assigning (new) casework to Leads for case summary writing.
  • Provide customer service to DON customers regarding the status of security clearance appeals by providing the status of the receipt of the appeal. The contractor shall not provide any information concerning the content of the appeal or the PSAB deliberations, or the recommendation of the DOHA Administrative Judge. However, the contractor shall request additional information from the appellant’s command as deemed necessary by the PSAB President, PSAB or other board members.
  • Establish and maintain case files in accordance with PSAB procedures; independently (or by supervisory direction) retrieve personnel security investigative or criminal case files from other federal repositories; review and ensure case files are complete; conduct and/or participate in case file inventories.
  • Evaluate case materials provided to PSAB for consideration, which includes the personnel security investigation file, the DCSA CAS letter of intent (LOI), the individual’s response to the LOI and the letter of denial/revocation (LOD/LOR) and in some cases the transcript, exhibits and recommendation from the DOHA and any other pertinent appeal documents.
  • Prepare PSAB correspondence in accordance with the DON Correspondence Manual and accepted PSAB correspondence practices. All correspondences shall be completed and in the proper format for the PSAB President’s signature within 2 working days of PSAB’s final action. The contractor shall ensure zero defects are in all final correspondences presented for signature.
  • Type letters, memoranda, endorsements, forms and other documentation from rough drafts or oral or written instruction into draft or final form. Perform other administrative tasks as needed.
  • Review all completed work for completeness and accuracy.
  • Maintain suspense files and/or database for action items, as necessary and provide reminders and status reports as required. Develop statistics when requested.
  • Prepare cases for board members; maintain archives; and provide the DCSA CAS DoD CAF, DOHA, and other pertinent agencies with copies of all decisions and related materials if applicable. Prepare documents for destruction on approved shredding equipment. All finished case files shall be delivered to the DCSA CAS for further processing within 2 working days of signature of final PSAB decision letters.
  • Respond telephonically or in writing with Congressional staff commanding officers, DCSA CAS and various individuals involved at all levels of the commands concerning the status of the appeal.
  • Coordinate, review and integrate all aspects of the appeals process in conjunction with the preparation and completion of PSAB correspondences.

Required technology experience:

  • All personnel must possess working knowledge of all applicable rules and regulations governing the Department of the Navy Personnel Security Appeals Board.
  • Knowledge of the National Security Adjudicative Guidelines and the requisite executive orders.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Teams.
