Pegasus Security is hiring 14 competent Armed and Unarmed Security Officers immediately for the Pegasus Security Special Events Team and the Rapid Response Team. Special Event dates are irregular. Rapid Response requires on-call status with less than 24 hours notice. Duty assignments service all Hampton Roads cities: Chesapeake, Hampton, Newport News, Norfolk, Portsmouth, Suffolk, Virginia Beach.
Responsibilities include close protection, money escort, controlling access and crowd, detecting suspicious behavior, and preventing vandalism, thefts or other criminal behavior. The ideal candidate must be well-trained in surveillance and dealing with perpetrators; will inspire respect; operate with authority; and employ strong de-escalation skills. The goal is to protect the people and the assets to keep the event and facilities safe and problem-free.
Responsibilities
- Escort money drops/cmash removal/money transport
- Control accesses to establish presence
- Control crowd to maintain order
- Collect and manage funds/fees
- Monitor and authorize entrance of vehicles or people in the property
- Remove wrongdoers or trespassers from the area
- Apprehend and detain perpetrators according to legal protocol before arrival of authorities
- Secure all exits, doors and windows after end of operations
- Check surveillance cameras periodically to identify disruptions or unlawful acts
- Investigate people for suspicious activity or possessions
- Respond to alarms by investigating and assessing the situation
- Provide authorized assistance as needed
- Submit daily activity reports and incident reports
Skills
- Proven experience as security officer or guard
- Effective de-escalation skills
- Current DCJS certification
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proven experience with proper application of the Continuum of Force
- Knowledge of legal guidelines for area security and public safety
- Strong report writing skills
- Excellent surveillance and observation skills
- Tech-savvy with experience in surveillance systems
- Trained in First Aid/BLS and self-defense
- High School diploma is required
