Summary of Position:

The Security Supervisor will manage day to day security operations at the Kraft Family Building, 126 High Street in Boston, and serve as a friendly resource to visitors, vendors and deliveries in accordance with CJP guidelines. The Security Supervisor provides front line oversight of armed security contractors by documenting and advising the security contractor of the positive and negative actions of its employees. The Security Supervisor ensures that all assigned security contractors are familiar with the physical structure, CJP procedures, CJP emergency procedures, and contractor security guidelines. When requested, the Security Supervisor will provide investigative support to the VP, Security and Operations. When requested the Security Supervisor will assist in training of CJP staff in safety, security and medical matters.

Essential Functions:

  • Supervise and implement security operations at the Kraft Family Building and other locations.
  • Staff the CJP security desk 40 hours a week and at outside events as needed.
  • Ability to respond to security and fire alarms and emergencies 24/7 in challenging conditions.
  • Manage a security contract to include:
o Draft & approve a weekly schedule,
o Draft Events security schedules and plans and ensure properly staffing,
o Supervise security at some events involving CJP staff, venue staff, security contractors and police,
o Supervise contractor compliance with applicable rules, regulations, security policies, and CJP post specific orders,
o Supervise contractor compliance with firearms and physical fitness per the contract.

o Review contractor attendance,

o Review monthly invoices for the security contractor and prepare them for VP signature.

  • Assist Events staff as needed.
  • Assist CJP Facility Management staff, Mailroom staff, and cleaning staff as needed.
  • Become proficient with and utilize security and visitor management software, create new badges and manage a watchlist.
  • Maintain familiarity with x-ray, WTMD, and other critical safety/security equipment in stock and ensure proper maintenance, service, and replacement as needed.
  • Provide safety and security training to CJP staff, Kraft Family Building tenants, and other community members as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned with or without accommodation.


Education:

  • Associates Degree or minimum of five years related experience.
  • Advanced law enforcement or military courses and certificates including CPR, First Aid, and firearms instructor certificates.
  • Knowledge of, and compliance with, MA criminal, civil, and administrative codes relating to firearms and applying the minimal use of force.

Experience:

  • Five years of supervisory experience in security, military, or law enforcement required.
  • Demonstrated experience managing physical security, procedural security, and guard/ security officer operations.
  • Demonstrated experience training others in law enforcement, military, disaster response, life saving and medical.
  • Demonstrated experience and training working safely with firearms, instructing and supervising others in their safe use.

Skills/Competencies:

  • Must possess and maintain Commonwealth of MA Class A Large Capacity License to Carry Firearms (M.G.L. c 140 – 131).
  • Must possess a driver’s license, a car or access to a car, and willingness to drive security and medical equipment to/from CJP events.
  • Possess excellent verbal communication with employees, visitors, VIPs, face to face, on the phone, or using a two-way radio. Requires strong crisis communication skills and the ability to make presentations to small groups in a training environment.
  • Possess excellent interpersonal, customer relations, and partnering skills, with sensitivity to the needs of a diverse community including employees, visitors, volunteers, and vendors.
  • Ability to utilize Exacq or Milestone camera software, PTZ, record, download and print,
  • Ability to utilize Microsoft Officer 365 suite including Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Teams.
  • Ability to provide leadership in a crisis.
  • Problem solving capabilities and the ability to react quickly and calmly in difficult situations.
  • Must demonstrate the highest degree of personal integrity and discretion on sensitive issues.
  • Ability to be flexible and adaptable to changes and shifting priorities.
  • Ability to manage under stress or high pressure situations.
  • Ability to stand for up to eight hours at a time.
  • Ability to work outside of regular business hours when required.
  • Must qualify with duty firearm on an annual basis to MA National Guard or MA law enforcement standards.
  • Must maintain physical fitness standards as specified in Private Security Appendices | Secure Community Network (SCN) in order to provide facility and event security.
  • Vision must be correctable to 20/40 or better.
  • Must maintain certifications to conduct medical training to American Red Cross or American Heart Association standards, and certification to conduct Stop the Bleed training to Stop the Bleed Standards.
