About the Position

The Senior Legal Counsel, Americas will be a member of the Americas Law Department at the Global Headquarters for The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company in Akron, Ohio, serving as a thought leader and partner to Goodyear’s largest strategic business unit, the Americas. The ideal candidate is business-savvy and client-service oriented, takes initiative in creating and improving legal processes, and excels at delivering high-quality, actionable and timely legal advice in a collaborative, fast-paced work environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Business partner that counsels leadership and other business and functional partners on a wide range of strategic and legal issues impacting the organization and its business objectives.
• Functional Lead on respective product business unit (PBU) leadership team; proactively identify and assess legal and reputational risk for business and functional clients across respective PBU; recommend practical, creative solutions that balance legal risk with business impact.
• Structure, draft, review and negotiate commercial agreements related to the sales, distribution and marketing of tires, services and next generation tire management tools and technologies across all customer channels for respective PBU.
• Assist PBU clients with M&A transactions and strategic projects relating to new products, services and business models.
• Support clients in connection with contract disputes and settlement discussions.
• Counsel and advise clients on applicable laws and regulations, evaluate and mitigate risk, and ensure compliance with Company policy.
• Develop and deliver training to clients on various legal topics and Company policies.
• Assist and coordinate with other attorneys in the Goodyear Law Department as needed.

Required Experience / Education

• A Law degree from an accredited U.S. law school and a member of the bar (not state specific).
• The ideal candidate will have 7+ years of general business law experience at a major law firm and/or in-house legal department, including commercial law and wide-ranging contract experience.
• Previous experience in antitrust, consumer products, advertising, and/or government sales a plus.
