Role Summary:

The Senior Manager for Scientific Communications – Schizophrenia will lead the strategic development and tactical execution of an integrated scientific communication plan (ICP) that meets the program medical goals and communication objectives. In this highly visible role, the Senior Manager will work collaboratively with cross-functional teams throughout the organization and will partner closely with the therapeutic area Medical Director to develop and prioritize communications including, a scientific communications platform, core slide decks, content development for Medical Congresses, and advisory boards. The Senior Manager for Scientific Communications – Schizophrenia will also be responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive Publication Plan including the development of congress presentations and manuscripts. The Senior Manager will be a main contributor in working with the various cross-functional teams to ensure alignment & efficiencies.

Key Responsibilities

    Become a subject matter expert for Schizophrenia
    Lead and manage strategic scientific communication plans and the execution of tactics targeting both internal and external audiences through medical communications materials and publications, including presence at scientific congresses, with an understanding of how these activities support the overall Medical Affairs and brand strategy
    Lead the development and execution of key medical education programs. Tactics may include live meetings (e.g., satellite symposia) or online programs
    Coordinate with the other Scientific Communication Leads within the organization to ensure alignment across the clinical portfolio and maximize efficiencies in material development /dissemination and prioritization
    Lead cross-functional scientific communication meetings, providing strategic guidance/recommendations to ensure cross-functional alignment
    Work closely with the Medical Director to ensure strategic communication and alignment to the Medical Strategy/communication objectives
    Liaise with the medical field teams to better understand the evolving needs and communications gaps
    Ensure compliance with Cerevel publications policy and standard operating procedures and with external guidelines on good publication practices
    Lead annual budgeting process for therapeutic area and ensure that scientific communications tactics are delivered within budget and defined timelines/metrics

Required Qualifications

    PharmD, PhD or MD in life sciences with a minimum of 5 years bio-pharmaceutical industry experience within Medical Affairs

Desired Qualifications

    Prior experience in scientific communications (publications, or medical communications)
    Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to understand and effectively communicate scientific and clinical data to both internal and external stakeholders
    Strategic mindset and demonstrated experience working cross-functionally
    An ability to work within a complex matrix organization and a demonstrated ability to influence change and drive action across functional teams
    Ability to set priorities, deal with ambiguity and ability to be independent, multi-tasked and results-oriented with a hands-on attitude in a fast-paced and energetic environment
