Create design, including layout and requirements, for network infrastructure, possibly including but not limited to: LAN, WAN, routing protocols, VRF, MPLS, QOS, firewall policies, etc.; designs should incorporate reasonable scalability, and the current and future strategies for technology and business into consideration

Account for information security for all network designs, planning, and/or modifications

Generate network modeling, and conduct network analysis for optimal network outcomes; provide recommendations to increase performance, decrease costs, and ultimately optimize networks

Manage, construct/maintain, and implement physical network components/structures; determine need for new components or replacement

Be point of contact to troubleshoot, resolve issues, undergo root cause analysis, and provide solutions for complex problems (ex. Configuration or routing issues, software bugs, performance or hardware failures etc.)

Plan for future of network, while emphasizing excellent operability, and scalability within moderation

Create necessary network documentation, including layouts and/or procedures

Act as interface for recommendations for project work requiring modifications for hardware, network, etc.

Identify risks to data communication networks, and mitigate the identified risk(s)

Remain current on new technologies; introduce applicable technology in alignment with VSP goals and for creative solutions

Guide change with a focus on optimal outcomes

Job Specifications

Typically has the following skills or abilities:

Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent experience

Six years of related experience

Demonstrated experience in network design and analysis

Prefer CCIE certification

Hands-on experience within a Cisco environment

Demonstrated ability to master the concepts and skills needed

Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills for moderate problems

Excellent organization and time management skills

Meet/exceed organization's best practices, expectations, and standards

Identify and mitigate risk(s)

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Demonstrated ability to guide others in regard to team self-management

Ability to regularly exercise discretion and independent judgment in the performance of his/her job duties
