Responsible for the development and implementation of both paid and organic social media communication and strategies targeted to engage key audiences through digital channels. Maintain and grow University of Massachusetts Global's social media channels by increasing awareness, credibility, and advocacy of the brand as well as increasing enrollments. Also responsible for community management including response and escalation of community questions and reviews. This position will work closely other members of the Marketing Division and other departments, to ensure that priorities and deadlines are being met.

The hiring range for this position is $64,480 - $90,000. Offers are determined by a variety of factors, including but not limited to: geographical location, knowledge, skills, years & depth of experience, and equity with internal team members.

This is a temporary (non-benefited position projected to run through the end of February 2023.

TYPE OF SUPERVISION:

Receive general supervision from the Assistant Vice Chancellor, Media Marketing.

  • General Supervision — indicates that the incumbent performs a variety of duties; some of which may be complex duties within established policy guidelines; and receives occasional supervision.

POSITION DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Paid Social

  • Design and implement platform specific strategic goals that align with overall business goals. This includes strategies for posting frequency, hashtag usage, and content by channel/funnel stage.

  • Design and implement campaigns of varying scope on social channels (e.g., product launches, rebrands, awareness campaigns, contests, etc.)

  • Define themes to guide content creation for paid and organic social promotion that supports enrollment and retention efforts

  • Manage the paid social advertising agency. Establish KPI’s, track performance, and optimize spend by tactic to ensure enrollment budgets and overall goals are met. Explore new paid opportunities when appropriate.

  • Stay abreast of social media trends, inform the communications and marketing teams, and recommend approaches to improve social media community engagement.

  • Monitor effective benchmarks for measuring the impact of social media programs; analyze, review, and report on effectiveness of campaigns in an effort to maximize results.

Organic Social

  • Create and manage a social media calendar, mapping content storylines to audience segments.

  • Prepare and develop innovative, visually appealing organic social media content to support and enhance the organization’s brand and strategic priorities.

  • Daily management of the University’s social media sites: Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram, You Tube. Management includes publishing, monitoring, and analyzing.

  • Responsible for online reputation management consisting of collaboration with university department heads to curate responses to social questions, crisis management and reviews.

  • Manage system for collecting, prioritizing and scheduling social media requests that come from various partners within the organization and partners.

  • Collaborate with Public Affairs to support the Chancellor’s social accounts.

  • Coordinate and deploy social standard methodologies, strategies and approach with other departments who utilize social accounts, platforms and strategies to achieve their business objectives.

  • Provide social media event support as needed (i.e. graduation ceremonies, immersions, holiday parties)

  • Monitor effective benchmarks for measuring the impact of social media programs; analyze, review, and report on effectiveness of campaigns in an effort to maximize results.

  • Produce and/or coordinate strong visuals, including video, still photography and graphics for social media assets.

Community Management

  • Establish social listening around topics relevant to the university and keep senior staff abreast of brand sentiment and potential issues.

  • Advocate for social media and work with others in the university community to maximize its potential. This includes creating/updating/maintaining the social media policy for staff and students as well as creating social guidelines to encourage advocacy.

  • Create and disseminate an executive level monthly report to Senior Staff.

  • Engage with brand followers and fans on social channels nurturing online community.

POSITION SPECIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Solid understanding of how to harness paid and organic social media tactics to develop and grow the University brand

  • Advanced knowledge of how to leverage and measure social networking sites, tools, plugins, video & photo sharing sites, web analytics, etc.

  • Knowledge of Adobe, Photoshop or other related design tools

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, CERTIFICATION AND/OR LICENSES:

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Journalism, Liberal Arts, or equivalent work experience.

  • Four (4) to seven (7) years’ experience with professional social media work.

  • Experience managing a brand’s Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram and YouTube platforms, including the integration of tools and third-party applications.

  • Facebook Blueprint Certificate.

MACHINES, TOOLS, EQUIPMENT, ELECTRONIC DEVICES and SOFTWARE:

  • Intermediate level experience with Microsoft Office Suite: Power Point, Excel, Outlook, Access, and Publisher

  • Expert level experience with social media management software: e.g. Sprinklr, Sprout, HootSuite, Hubspot, etc.

  • Adobe Creative Suite, Photoshop or other related design tools

  • Mobile devices and tablets

  • Photo and video editing equipment

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

Working conditions are normal for an office environment. Position may be required to work flexible hours particularly given campuses’ extended hours of operation and may require occasional weekend and/or evening work.
