Offering more than 100 certificate, associate and bachelor’s degree programs, Daytona State College (DSC) has responded to the education and workforce training needs in our region for more than 60 years. The college enrolls nearly 25,000 students annually at its seven instructional sites, with graduates serving in critical fields including health care, emergency services, business, education, hospitality, engineering, technology and more.

We currently have an opportunity to join our team of talented and diverse Faculty and Staff as a Senior Student Development Specialist.

Required Qualifications: This position requires an associate degree in education, sports management, recreation, or related field.


Desired Qualifications: Two (2) years related experience and experience in student housing operations is preferred.

This is a full-time, non-exempt position with an hourly rate of $16.83 with an approximate annual amount of $35,000.


Working Hours: Regular work hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. Evening, night and weekend hours are required as needed, especially during special events.

Key Responsibilities:


  • Plans and implements departmental co-curricular programs and activities that reflect student interests and support institutional values and goals. Provides assistance and support to Student Life with student organizations in planning and implementing campus and community service events and activities at all campuses. Supports efforts to create opportunities for students to develop leadership, teamwork, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Assists with the residence hall application process, offer process and student housing documentation process. Assists with PeopleSoft business processes and other business processes as required for student residents. Supports the functions of non-student resident housing operations and the residence hall room assignments process for student residents. Serve as a member of the on-call team for the student housing.
  • Provides effective and efficient communications for Student Life via email, text message, phone, social media, and in-person to meet departmental needs. Supports departmental efforts to promote co-curricular activities in print and online media. Respond to inquiries and/or concerns from students, staff, or the general public to solve problems or discrepancies.
  • Collaborate with other areas and departments to facilitate successful Student Life operations, including but not limited to Student Accounts, Financial Aid, Academic Advising, Records and Registration, Academic Affairs, Athletics and Campus Safety. Attends staff meetings to exchange information. Attends professional seminars and/or conferences to improve professional skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel. Compiles information, maintains records and creates, maintains, and generates various Student Life reports as needed and requested. Research and troubleshoot areas that need development and improvement.
  • Assists with intramural sports events and activities. Manages the set up and maintenance of supplies and equipment for student programs and activities. Assist with Awards Ceremonies such as the annual Awards Convocation and Commencement.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:


  • Perform clerical and technical tasks requiring a wide range of procedures; summarize, tabulate and format data and information.
  • Ability to give information, guidance, or aid.
  • Knowledge in the operation and use of office technology, digital media and web-based applications and be self-motivated.
  • Strong organizational, written, and oral communication skills.
  • Perform some physical work, such as lifting and placing items and equipment that weighs approximately 20 pounds.
