Shift: Monday - Friday / 3pm – 11pm

What a Tool Room Technician contributes to Cardinal Health
Sets up and operates a variety of machine tools to make metal parts, mechanisms, tools, or machines to exacting tolerances and dimensions.
This role will support Manufacturing in the Medical Segment.
Responsibilities
Sets up and operates Tool Room equipment including CNC Mills, CNC Lathe, saw, manual mill and lathes.
Manufacture parts and components to print specifications using manual and CNC machinery.
Collaborate respectfully with team members and coworkers; and mentor apprentices and less experienced technicians.
Develop innovative solutions to address root cause findings.
Complete required documentation accurately and on time.
Maintains spare part inventories for mold repairs and maintenance.
Schedule, follow up, and work with outside tool shops and vendors to complete mold repairs and preventive maintenance.
Report service status and provide up-dates to the Tool Room Lead or designate.
Communicate repair status between shifts.
Modify molds and fixtures as directed to reduce down time, increase productivity, control cost, and prevent failure.
Qualifications
Machinist Degree, preferred
3-5 years related work experience and/or training, preferred
Extensive knowledge of measuring equipment, surface grinders, lathe machines, mills, and drill presses
Experience reading tooling blueprint and schematics
Ability to operate an overhead hoist and work independently from written or verbal instructions

Demonstrates a working knowledge of jobs outside area of responsibility
Maintains appropriate licenses, training and certifications
Works on assignments that are moderately difficult requiring judgment in resolving issues
May assist in recommendation of processes on new assignments
Adheres to all quality guidelines
Works with limited supervision. Work occasionally involves review of output by work lead or supervisor
May provide general guidance or technical assistance to less experienced team members
