Olla Cocina is a contemporary Mexican restaurant serving food and drinks in a casual and festive environment. The cuisine and bar program draw inspiration from many regions across Mexico and use seasonal California ingredients for a fresh take on traditional favorites. Located in downtown San Jose’s popular San Pedro Square, Olla is a slice of modern Mexico with a fun and shareable menu of traditional favorites, signature cocktails and local beers and wine on tap.

We're moving back to full table service and are looking for PT and FT experienced Servers to join our team! Servers will make San Jose minimum wage + tips. As a Server, you will take food and beverage orders, retrieve and serve alcoholic/non-alcoholic beverages and food orders to guests’ tables according to restaurant and/or hotel service standards and specifications, courteously and efficiently. Collect payments. Assist in the maintenance of the restaurant area and equipment. Provide quality service.

REQUIRED COMPETENCIES:

Ability to:

• Compute basic mathematical calculations.

Knowledge of:

• P.O.S. system.

• Table/seat/station numbers, room capacity, hours of operation, proper table set-up and dress code of the Restaurant/Bar.

• All liquor brands, beers and non-alcoholic selections, correct glassware and garnishes in the restaurant.

• Particular characteristics and description of every wine/ champagne by the glass and major wines on the wine list.

• All menu items, prices, preparation method/time, ingredients and quality standards of taste, appearance, texture, serving temperature, portion size, garnish and method of presentation.

• Maintain complete knowledge of, and strictly abide by, state liquor regulations (particularly those prohibiting service to minors and intoxicated persons, and drunk driving).

• Correct maintenance and use of equipment. Use equipment only as intended.

• Company service standards and practices.

• Maintain complete knowledge of, and comply with, all departmental policies/service procedures.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Minimum 21 years of age.

• One year of experience as a casual upscale dining Server or equivalent.

• Ability to satisfactorily communicate in English with guests, management and co-workers to their understanding.

• Food Handler Certification.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• High school graduate, some college.

• Computer training on P.O.S. system, preferably Toast.

• Prior training in guest relations.
