Summary

Spire is seeking a Platform Engineer to implement Data Center server, virtual and storage solutions and help design Spire’s Data Center Architecture. This position will be responsible for building, maintaining, and implementing Data Center solutions across multiple Data Center, working with Cloud engineers to implement hybrid solutions, and ensuring that all Data Center solutions adhere to security and governance standards and best practices. The successful Platform Engineer will have hands on experience with Virtualization technologies, Automation platforms like Ansible and, Windows and Linux Operating Systems, Storage arrays and will excel at finding solutions to challenging problems. We are looking for someone who can bring their experience, expertise, and enthusiasm to help us deliver on Spire’s strategic vision to Make the breakthroughs today that will energize tomorrow.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Building, deploying, and maintaining the physical and virtual infrastructure and storage infrastructure
  • Developing documentation and best practices for the Operations team to support cloud systems.
  • Collaborating with solutions and enterprise architects, business units, developers, and the innovation team to deliver on corporate initiatives and develop roadmaps
  • Design and implement automation processes to improve and reduce manual procedures
  • Ensure infrastructure meets industry standards for high availability, ensuring uptime SLAs are met
  • Work with the Operations team and Smart Desk to provide documentation, operating procedures and troubleshooting guides for ongoing support.
  • Work with Information Security on secured configurations and policies for infrastructure systems
  • Assist in Disaster Recover planning, development, and testing
  • Work with the ITSM team regarding change control, incident management, problem management and IT policies in an ITIL driven organization
  • Review and develop procedures and document resolutions contributing to the Knowledgebase and detailing problem resolution
  • Fully embedded in Agile teams, participates in all ceremonies and planning.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Required Education (certifications, licenses)

  • BS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Information Systems or equivalent experience.
  • CISSP preferred, Microsoft, Linux or Virtualization Certifications required

Required knowledge, skill and abilities

  • 5+ years Storage architecture and management experience
  • 5+ years’ experience in powershell, scripting or some other programming language
  • 5+ years’ experience installing, maintaining and administering enterprise level server and storage hardware in a DataCenter
  • 7+ years in Windows OS or Linux Administration
  • 7+ years proven experience designing, managing and maintaining virtualization platforms like VMware, Hyper-V or Citrix.
  • Experience in key skill areas that include: Automation technologies like Ansible, Active Directory, Docker or Linux containers, Certificate Management, Data Center server and network architecture


Physical demands, environment and schedule

  • Work is performed in a shared, open-office environment
  • Evening and weekend hours may be necessary to meet critical project deadlines
  • Some travel may be required to meet the needs of the business
