The Service Manager is responsible for managing the service department and the hiring, on-boarding and supervision of the field service technicians. This position is the main point-of-contact for customer service-related inquiries, requests, and information.
Duties and responsibilities
- Provide quality service to all customers.
- Ensure timely, consistent delivery of services and products purchased by customers.
- Develop, deploy, and oversee training program for service technicians as needed.
- Answer customer emails and phone calls in a timely manner. Provide efficient resolutions to their issues.
- Develop written repair proposals as requested as requested by customers and provide quotes for repairs found during inspections.
- Create required documentation and information job files and coordinate with office staff to maintain good record keeping of all service jobs.
- Visit customers on location to evaluate potential service repairs, inspections, and new equipment in order to develop a quote.
- See that all internal procedures are followed for executing, invoicing and closing jobs.
- Review performance of jobs to determine accuracy of estimating and quoting.
- Monitor levels of overtime hours as well as indirect labor.
- Provide performance reviews of technicians according to company policy.
- Assist field technicians as needed.
This position is responsible for the field service technicians.
Qualifications
Qualifications include:
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in service technician or related field.
- Prior supervisory experience is preferred.
- Ability to lead others and effectively handle multiple projects simultaneously.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills required.
- Effective computer skills required.
Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment, although some field and/or shop work may be required periodically.
Physical requirements
- Occasional field work when required to support field technicians working with hand and power tools as necessary. May also involve working at heights and some heavy lifting.
