At Central Hudson, our technology and business teams are seeking workflow optimization and opportunities to provide automated self-service as we expand usage of ServiceNow. The ServiceNow Administrator/Developer will be responsible for support of the ServiceNow platform, gathering and documenting user and process requirements, building functional requirements, and delivering technical solutions through the platform. As a key member of the technical team, you will have the opportunity to shape the strategy, development, and implementation roadmap of ServiceNow, having a direct impact on our user experience and all ITSM workstreams.
As a ServiceNow Administrator/Developer, you will be responsible for design and implementation of ideas/solutions that improve efficiency and value delivery of the team. Leveraging a strong understanding of ServiceNow functionality and ITIL processes this includes, but is not limited to, Incident Management, Change Management, Problem Management, CMDB Management, Service Catalog, and Reporting modules.
As innovative technologies emerge and impact ServiceNow and automation opportunities, the ServiceNow Administrator/Developer is expected to learn these integrations, work with supporting admins for the other tools, and resolve any problems involved in integrating new applications with our systems. Title/level is commensurate with experience.
What does a ServiceNow Administrator/Developer do?
  • Configures ServiceNow applications and facilitates rollout of new applications, modules, and UI/Workflow administration
  • Collaborates effectively with other ServiceNow administrators, and product/process owners to develop solutions and handle general updates and configuration changes/requests
  • Identifies system or process deficiencies and recommend solutions
  • Develops integrations and process automation; fully utilizes the platform’s app engine and integration hub capabilities
  • Ensures that the latest release of ServiceNow application is implemented in a timely manner with minimal or no disruption to operations
  • Maintenance and continuous improvement of the processes, standards, policies, working methods, and tools
  • Ensures appropriate tools and processes are in place to have a development/production environment that is reliable and reproducible
  • Ensures tool configuration consistency across development, stage, testing, sandbox, and production environments
  • Works in a SCRUM / agile framework to deliver solutions within the platform, taking a hands-on approach to driving incremental change, and improvements to the employee experience and operations
  • Estimates work effort requirements efficiently and appropriately
  • Participates in ongoing production support and end user support
  • Delivers user training and documentation, both technical and end-user
  • Participates in special projects to improve processes and technologies
  • Takes responsibility for personal learning, development, and time management, setting achievable and meaningful work jobs and managing personal targets
  • Demonstrates a commitment to Central Hudson organizational values, including performing to a high ethical standard and focused on integrity, collaboration, and teamwork in all efforts
  • Supports storm restoration efforts
What does it take to be a ServiceNow Administrator/Developer?
Required:
  • Bachelor’s degree with at least 1 year of ServiceNow experience. In lieu of a bachelor’s degree, an associates degree with 5+ years of ServiceNow experience will be considered.
  • Self-motivated with a proven knowledge of ITSM operational processes and the ServiceNow platform, including current ServiceNow Certification(s)
  • Demonstrated experience of working in a small team, evidencing the ability to make a strong, hands-on contribution
  • A strong understanding of ITIL best-practice service-delivery
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
  • Demonstrated strong problem solving, analytical skills and strategic thinking
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including stakeholder management, training, presentation, and public speaking
  • Ability to be flexible and adaptable in the face of changing organizational priorities, technology, and processes
  • Valid driver’s license
Preferred:
  • Demonstrated background with ServiceNOW ITOM, including common asset integrations
  • SCRUM Experience
