STATUS: Full Time Salary
40-48 hours a week
Monday through Friday avaialbilty to 7pm

GENERAL SUMMARY:
To supervise a fast paced pick/pack/ship operation delivering exceptional customer service to both internal and external customers while achieving the team and company goals.
GOAL – Every order placed by our customers by 4pm is shipped same day!
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Supervise daily activities in outbound shipping to meet departmental productivity, quality (accuracy) and service goals and objectives
Schedule team to meet productivity and order expectations, authorize overtime and vacation for team, approve time cards, and maintain attendance records for the area
Define appropriate metrics and ensure the proper monitoring controls are in place to regularly measure the team’s performance
Train and develop skills of team and provide motivation and guidance by reviewing performance and providing feedback in a timely manner (at least monthly)
Collaborate with Human Resources to recruit the highest caliber talent and actively participate in creating a workplace that sustains employee morale, commitment, and retention while delivering unparalleled customer service
Provide leadership that drives operational excellence, continual improvement, and teamwork throughout the warehouse
Resolve most complex problems, recommend and implement solutions, respond to questions, and communicate any issues/concerns to their team, to other teams and to management
Coordinate shipping-related activities with other affected departments and/or teams, tracking department activity statistics, generating monthly status reports for management, informing management of developing trends/problems in the area, and performing other related activities/special projects as assigned
Recommend and implement approved improvement ideas to Shipping Standard Operating Procedures following lean principles such as identifying and reducing variation in process to improve customer satisfaction and quality ultimately reducing cost and waste. Mentor, coach and train team members to ensure the continuing development of area talent
Plan, organize and direct the activities of the team to accomplish the team’s short and long term goals while driving operational improvements to align with company goals
Handle multiple priorities in a continuously changing environment
Prepare, review and manage operation budgets that ensure all financial objectives are achieved in the areas of payroll, packaging, and freight out
Demonstrate an understanding and support of company policies and procedures and all other regulatory compliances and communicates them effectively to the team
Ensure all team members in the shipping department are following all safety standards and housekeeping protocols
Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Demonstrated leadership skills that create an engaged team environment
- Knowledgeable and experienced in all facets of outbound shipping operations
- Knowledgeable of continuous improvement methodology such as Lean Six Sigma
- Ability to interact professionally with all levels of internal customers as well as outside contacts
- High degree of tact, diplomacy and discretion required demonstrating the highest respect for people as individuals and as members of a company team.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication and people skills
- - Strong planning and organizational skills necessary
- Proficient in Microsoft Office products
- Able and willing to change the status quo and effectively champion change with the team
- Trained in hazardous material and other OSHA / DOT regulations
Education and Experience
At least 1 years of higher education or equivalent training
At least 1-2 years of outbound shipping and/or distribution center experience
At least 1 year of management with proven successes preferred, not required
